Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
no ones denying there isnt some polarization, maybe some worse than others, maybe not. You keep driving your point home, which no one is denying, while ignoring the other factors of the argument. The WHOLE point is the way people are going about it. You think youre going to "fight the power" but in the end youre going to just lose- thats reality. What price are you willing to pay to figure this out, $50? 4 hours of your time? more? Where does it stop?
So on top of a $500 phone you drive around like a chicken with its head cut off wasting gas money and your time to get where? Sprint stores dont care (obviously), nor will HTC or Sprint acknowledge anything (obviously). So what exactly do you plan to accomplish? As I said NO Sprint stores are going to take their complete stock of touch's out of the back, unseal them and power them on for you to check the screens- it simply wont happen on this planet. I want a lot of things too, but sometimes you just have to simply accept some things simply arent going to happen. The logical (and only real) duality here is take it for what it is, or sell it on ebay and use the money and stress you save, and get a different model phone off ebay in return. And then dont buy HTC again, not even the raphael or diamond or HTC Dream with Android(which 90% of these "HTC haters" will crawl back for anyways) if you hate HTC so much and think its some plot to get you. THATS your way to vote with your wallet and actually do something about it. But this behavior will lead you nowhere 99/100 times unless you get that 1/10,000 "good screens" and thats a promise I will back any hour of any day. This thread is going the same downward direction as the other thread that got closed with loony toon HTCuser at the helm with the same "Im going to drive to every sprint store all day 5 days a week" mentality like that will fix anything, because it wont. There simply is NO resolution to this issue. Last edited by SprintTouch08; 05-30-2008 at 12:25 AM. |

Also, saying that their is 'NO' solution is just ignorant if not even willing to try out the equation. Ya dig? Quote:
Oh yeah, you best believe I'm still going to see. Because, unlike the negative nelly above I would like to help. In my opinion the Touch is one of the best, if not the best phones on the market. I enjoy my Touch, and honestly if someone isnt satisfied i dont think its too much to ask and see if i can help them. Especially if i do in fact have a 'good' screen. btw... isnt that why you joined this forum... to make your cell phone more enjoyable? |

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
Well fellows, nobody here denied your effort or good willings for all the touch users. The point here is not to ask people to drive to all local sprint stores and ask them to take their entire stock, unseal it and let you check the screen. As I stated, I've gone through 5 or more touch phones, and did the same thing as you are doing now. A sprint rep even take a brand new phone out to let me check (a bad screen with waterwave), but do I want to check the entire stock? hell yes. Are they gonna let me do it? Hell no. The point here is to find a way to identify the good from bad without actually opening a new package. If we can tell from the numbers listed on the package, or at least the manufacture date, we then have some solid standard to do this. Otherwise, your entire effort will do no more than getting yourself a good screen and win this gamble (maybe in your next trip, maybe never), but for the rest of us who might care more about the cost (time/money/energy) to get the "good" screen, not much helpful.
Nobody here is denying that there's a good screen and bad screen. (I haven't seen it from Sprint however), but the point is whether we can find some solid proof for HTC and Sprint, so that they can fix it for us; or whether we can get some solid hints to identify a good one (so far I can't get a clue). Going into store, asking them to bring entire stock and open everyone for you, a single customer, will never happen in real life I think. Last edited by Procter; 05-30-2008 at 11:49 AM. |

To add more pain to the wound..
Ok further comparison, sorry I don't want to make you guys feel like you have something bad or lesser any more than you might feel already.
I have both and they are ok, nothing to have a fit or worry about really. But here goes. My 25-DEC-2007 Alltel screen's colors are MUCH more visiblity vivid and vibrant. It would seem it has more colors than the 17-JAN-2008 Sprint screen. Even though they are spec'd the same. Just for kicks I was testing out the GPS, my Sprint got 10 Sats in half the time as my Alltel that only got 4-7 fluctuating. I started zooming into satelite view of where I was and noticed... Hey the BROWN roof tops are really brown on the Alltel when compared to the Sprint, which side by side looked gray-ish brown.. Doesn't matter at what angle I look at them. Dead on frontal view on the Sprint (which is it's best view) in comparison; the "better" screen is more than just better viewing angles, it's better in i.e. Emerson LCD vs Sony/Samsung LCD.. This is something you can not and don't notice, something you'd NEVER be aware of or disappointed about, if you didn't have both side by side to compare. I'll see if I can get some pictures posted. -CC EDIT: This is in an office environment with lots of fluorescent lights over head, so there is a lot of glare and not really fair to the actual look of the screen because of the glare. Click on the smaller image below to view a slideshow of the ALLTEL phone. I will post some of the Sprint phone later tonight. On this picture you can also notice the polarizing effect this screen has in it's center.
