Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
I dont think its necessarily the expense of the new screen that kept sprint from buying it. i think it has more to do with the manufacturing place/batch/date and how they recently added a better screen to their newer models.
again, i have no motivation to attempt to complain about my touch's screen quality even though the difference is significant. i was happy with the touch when it first came out, and i'll admit, i am a little dissapointed about the screen quality after seeing a better one up close. but i am still happy with my original purchase, and happy for the people who were fortunate enough to get a better screen. now if the reception was god awful to begin with and the new touch's had a better antenna, that may push me to ask for the better model if I had consistent call quality issues (which has yet to happen btw). cmp199: i understand the whole tree in forest sound concept, but the way i see it. htc made something good even better, and people still find a way to complain about it. its more like if i bought a brand new car, only to find out a year later, there have been improvements made on that same model, i should be pissed, right? edit: just so you know, i am in no way trying to single you out cmp199. you just happened to provide the best leverage for my arguement Last edited by Aleki; 05-20-2008 at 12:41 PM. |

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
Just got my phone yesterday and it's definitely got a bad screen as well. Maybe we should try to get this out to the press (i.e. Engadget, etc.) They can publicize the issue and maybe once enough people are aware of problem, HTC/Sprint will do something about it. Sort of like with the drivers issue, we have to make some noise to get noticed.

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
Well, I just got my inssurance replacement.Sadly this one also has a bad screen. I get furious when I read that some ppl got Touches with good screens. Specialy after spending alot of money on this.

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
I just received my touch today. Also a new PPC member =).
Anyhow, I was looking at the screen, and it seems to be visible horizontally and vertically from pretty good angles. I took it outside under very bight sunlight and it was visible but to a very reduced degree. Is the bad screen very, very obvious, because I'm not sure which one I bought. Is there any definite test with a certain program or webpage as a reference? Thanks! |

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
I've had 5 replacements, and they have terrible screens. Dark spots, "rainbow effects," and poor visibility from angles, and impossible to read in the sun.
I am going to another store to see if I can get yet another replacement... |

Re: Good vs Bad screens (pictures + videos of both)
When I did the test I also brought them outside. It was pretty perfunctory but I thought they were both equally crappy outside. I'll try it again and post back. my co worker has the good touch, i have the bad one.
