It seems to me that going back to the Palm regardless how outdated was the route to go. I mean the guy probably needs his contact info to function for business purposes and what not. Wether it's a device issue or a software issue, the fact of the matter is that software manufactures and cell phone manufactures are obviously not on the same page. Probably by design by the way. I applaud dude for bringing this issue to the forum, because he just might help prevent the next unsuspecting consumer from going through the same BS. Go Old Palm! Go! Go! Go! Hell it works dont try to fix it.

I can almost guarantee it could be fixed. But he does not have the expertice/experince to do so.

One major issue is he's using a mix of cutting edge (Touch and Office 2007) on a system that is 4 years old (XP and Active sync). One thing in general I find and I'm sure other have if you want to stay cutting edge then you need to be consistent and keep it all cutting edge. Also be prepared for cutting edge problems.

If he went into a store and bought a new Vista and Office 2007 machine I'm sure it would sync up and work fine. But he has an older setup with some history and it takes a bit of experience to clean that all up.

I agree with others. Palm is brain dead. It tend to be stable because of it's lack of features and change. You could make the same argument to have stayed with the older version of office which also probably would have worked.

"cutting edge" has nothing to do with anything. I'm running AS on a 5 year old laptop with XP Pro and Office 2007 and sync just fine with my Touch. I did, however, have to reinstall Office because it wouldn't sync at first. AS is incredibly finnicky.

Also, your recommendation of staying with the old version of Office makes no sense since AS can't sync with anything below Office 2007 if you want to sync everything.

Exchange

I know this may not be the answer you are looking for, but I might recommend trying an over the air sync like exchange. I purchase exchange hosting through Sher Web and it is worth ever penny.

wow! Cant beleave your ditching the Touch. I never understand why some ppl have sync problems. My guess if its your hardware on your PC. Its drivers to be more precise. I buy top quality ram, motherboard, ect. That must be the culprite for some of you.

Noo

don't send it back!!! send it to me and I'll send you $$ for it. I already have the touch and loving it but I could use another one for the wifey. I haven't had any syncing problem whatsoever but I am syncing directly to the exchange server. knock on wood. I know this reply has nothing to do with your situation except telling you not to send it back and send it to me!! if you got it free then get some money for it. Maybe you really didn't get it free but just saying it because you're trying to prove a point. sending something "free" back instead of selling it is crazy. maybe you're a billion billion gazillion times richer than the rest of us and probably why money is no object to you. if that is the case, buy everyone on this forum a free touch

If you had the patience and willingness to learn, you would know that the problems can be fixed through either a full reformat if your laptop (though you probably won't wanna do that if you don't have a backup hard drive) or using an exchange account which is much easier and it dynamically backups your data when you add new entries and appointments on your phone, online.

PalmOS is a lot better than WM6 in many ways and you'd have to be a fool not to see that. There's a reason why there's more than one cellphone being sold in the world.
Please, tell me in what ways? I'd love to hear. The only legit ones I could think of off hand is slightly faster program launching and a better pure launcher program which is basically a pointless pro because there are a number of free, great WinMo launchers that are as good if not better than the palm interface.
