Each and EVERY time I had problems with a WM device not syncing, I did what the OP did. In/Un stalling programs (ActiveSync, MSO '07) thinking that was my issue.

I had come to the point of total frustration and one night while just saying "eff it" I came across a little blurb that said the problem may be related to rapimgr.exe; which is the Active Sync component.

Turns out, my firewall kept denying access to rapimgr.exe- but it took me days to figure that out. The other thing that makes finding a fix seem like something totally impossible is the fact that you may have been syncing just fine before.....and then....out of the blue- can no longer sync.

I am not sure what changed or if I were the one that made the change, all I do know is that telling my firewall that rapimgr.exe is OK has had me syncing flawlessly ever since.

From what I can see mail2web only sends you your mail. I use exchange to sync my calendar, email, contacts, and tasks. To me the sync of everything is worth way more than just sending me my email. I can reset my phone, and have all mt contacts etc back in just a few sec. Also with exchange 2007 I can search for any email I have in Outlook no matter how old it is. I have over 10,000 emails, and obviously I cant store them all on my PPC. I also use exchange to sync my laptop, office desktop, home desktop, and assistance desktop. Trust me it is worth it if you are in business!!

I pay $6.95 for my exchange hosting, and trust me it is worth every penny!!

It looks like they raised their price to $8.95 but here's the link http://www.sherweb.com/hosted-exchange

Try much, much, much better phone app, ability to record full conversations directly from the radio (this is HUGE), better calendar app, much better messaging app, better LCDs. I know that the LCD isn't directly related to the OS any longer, but there still aren't any WM6 Sprint phones that can even come close to the screens on the PalmOS phones.

Mail2web IS THE EXACT SAME THING YOU PAY FOR, its a FULL exchange server, BUT! it has a (i think) 10 meg limit... but i have it forward my work email so i can just get the email on my phone and delete it, keeping a backup in my work email... And it syncs calendars, contacts, emails, and tasks perfect... Has a full web Exchange layout, with a mobile login for access from the phone... and its free

I installed outlook 2007 three times before it worked. You should have tried first installing Activesync 4.2 and then upgrading to 4.5,but only after installing Outlook. Returning a free phone? Could have sold it on this forum! Smart.

Mail2Web is awesome. Been using it for years. My favorite is their web based IM service...

Also, your recommendation of staying with the old version of Office makes no sense since AS can't sync with anything below Office 2007 if you want to sync everything.
I use active sync 4.5 with Outlook 2003 and the touch. I had absolutely no problems syncing email, contacts, calendar, and notes. I eventually ditched that and started syncing OTA directly to the exchange 2003 server so that I no longer have to connect my phone to my computer. You don't need version 2007 of anything for the touch to work well. I don't know why you would say,

I have no intention of upgrading to exchange 2007, office 2007, or vista anytime soon, and I have no need to. If I'm missing something, please tell me, but otherwise don't spread misinformation.

I dont usually comment on stuff like this but......

Palm replaced its own "a lot better than WM6" PalmOS with windows mobile in its phones. PalmOS hasent seen a real update since the treo 650. It may indeed work for you, but compaired to WM5/6, apple OS X, Linux...... PalmOS just falls short.
