Got it FREE - Sending it back - Going Back to Palm

Got my 3rd Touch this week. Have not/can not sync using ActiveSync 4.5 and Outlook 2007(trial version).

Tried everything known to man. Unloaded Norton, Windows firewall, and Sygate firewall.

Uninstalled and reinstalled many, many times. Tried many suggestions. I get that 85010014 error and no syncing. I have moved files from my hard drive to the Touch and they played on the mobil player fine but no contacts or appointments will sync.

One thing I am aware of and can't remedy. I had Outlook97 installed when I installed Outlook 2007. I uninstalled Outlook2007 then Outlook97 then reinstalled Outlook 2007 but I fear the damage was done and I don't have the expertise to hack my registry.

I have spoken with Sprint advanced technicians: Herman, Grace, John, Eric, Tina, Terri, Venus, Luke, johnathan, John, Lisa, Anette, Jolannda, Jay, Josh, Paul, William and other that I didn't bother to get their names. Last Friday I was on the phone with Herman from a little after 9:00pm till past 3:00am Saturday morning. This after spending a couple of hours earlier with a different tech. Nothing worked.

The best/worst part: I'M SENDING IT BACK AND I GOT IT FOR FREE!

My little old Samsung I500 Palm just works. I press the button and it syncs my contacts and appoints just fine.

So good by Touch and hello again Palm.

Why don't you try keeping that crap to yourself?

PalmOS is a lot better than WM6 in many ways and you'd have to be a fool not to see that. There's a reason why there's more than one cellphone being sold in the world.

Oh yeah?

I agree with him. Have fun with crappy PalmOS.

I will say though that I've had many problems syncing any device with Outlook 2007 and AS 4.5. It magically works now but I went through lots of fighting to get it to work. Can't quite remember what I did. Let's hope my computer doesn't ever crash on me lol.

I had the same problem with mine tytn. I did a Microsoft update and all was well. I tried for a couple of days. The update were downloaded to my computer with Microsoft auto update. I just decided to install them. After that AS started working on its own.

Please, tell me in what ways? I'd love to hear. The only legit ones I could think of off hand is slightly faster program launching and a better pure launcher program which is basically a pointless pro because there are a number of free, great WinMo launchers that are as good if not better than the palm interface.

I dont usually comment on stuff like this but......

Palm replaced its own "a lot better than WM6" PalmOS with windows mobile in its phones. PalmOS hasent seen a real update since the treo 650. It may indeed work for you, but compaired to WM5/6, apple OS X, Linux...... PalmOS just falls short.

How shortsighted can you be? Palm decided to make even more money by keeping PalmOS in MOST of their phones (do the math) and also releasing a couple with WM5.

Shortsighted?

Since the induction of WM into a palm phone, the OS by phone list is:

PalmOS treos: (in order of release)
680 (same hadware as the WM 750 treo slight changes to the palmOS)
700p (same as the 650)
755p (same as the 700p)
Centro (not a treo but same out dated OS)

WM treos: (in order of release)
750 (FIRST antenna less treo and first WM treo)
700w/wx (FIRST CDMA WM treo)
500v (FIRST totaly new form factor since the intro of 650)

up next is: Treo 800w (new form factor, possible first treo with wifi....)

most of palm's recent innovation has taken place with the WM mobile line of treos because WM allows for more flexability. Face it dude...palm OS is DEAD.
