Re: Let's Get It Straight

I believe for the most part you are on track. As I mentioned in a previous response I would reverse 3 and 4.

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

Friends, Romans, countrymen. Lend me your ears.
To Stop or Not to Stop, that is the question
whether tis nobler to stop customization or to let it run
I come to bury my old rom, not to raise it.
The upgrades that men do tell after them;
The good is oft interred with their smartphone;
So let it be with Rom WM 6.1.

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

Oh Sorry friends, I missed this last page. Thanks I will reverse 3 and 4. My courage is mounting and cresting on the plunge!

Here is my final step by step posted for any correction, criticism or acknowledgement!

1. Back up my info etc.
2. Install WM 6.1 Rom update. (do not allow customization)
3. Reactivate phone if necc. *228 Option 1, and * Option 2
4. Do the aGPS

?? 5. Install Valhalla cab (I am guessing to the xv6900 My Documents) 'not'

Steve- is the Valhalla cab not necc because of the aGPS? thanks

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

One more moronic question to Steve or any of you fine helpers. What IS the customization we often talk about? thanks again.

Carrier customizations are those that a carrier drops onto a phone after the phone has been flashed, typically when you see this will "self destruct in 3 seconds"..lol! It gives your phone the carrier's personalization in many cases, while adjusting the phone to how the carrier wants to run it. Remember the hardware is fairly generic from CDMA carrier to another. Its the customizations that make it truly a carrier device.

Skywing's Valhalla cab is NOT necessary if you do not allow customizations to run. You will get GPS functionality via the aGPS fix. Valhalla is only used if customizations have run, since the GPS gets locked down.

Ah, well it would seem better if I let customizations run then. So, If I did that, could I then use Valhalla and configure GPS to work with TomTom. leslie

No you would only be able to use it with apps, like Google Maps, that respond to the gpsapi. Apps like TomTom and iGo use COM port based GPS, and would not work under this arrangement.

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

Ok, so I went ahead and installed the update, ran customizations, and installed Valhalla cab.
To my disappointment my TomTom refuses to lock on to my position, the GPS status viewer shows crazy data coming in.

So now I am wondering how I can get it back to a point where GPS will work over the normal COM port.

Can I hard reset the device, not run customizations, and use the QPST GPS hack?

Edit: I don't want to use GPSGate, it is clunky.

Follow the bouncing ball to get back to square one:

1. I first ran ImCokeMan's .40 Vogue Unlocker. from above link

2. I then flashed to the Original OEM 6.0 Sprint ROM. This restored my radio to 2.13 - not the original 1.60 that VZW uses, but it works anyway because this is also a non-GPS radio. This time, DON'T LET THE CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN!!!!

3. I then ran ImCokeMan's .40 Vogue Unlocker again since the official Sprint ROM had locked it back up.

4. I then upgraded using the VZW dumped ROM.

5. Dial *228 and press 1 to program the phone.

THIS BRINGS YOU BACK TO SQUARE 1 .... and on VERIZONS NETWORK !!!

After that then:

6.Then you need to unlock you’re your phone with
ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/ImCoKeMaN/Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31.exe

7.FLASH http://216.139.227.226/alltel/RUU_Vogue_4350_ALLTEL_WWE_3.04.671.2_Radio_4350H_3 .37.10_Alltel_NV2.00_PRL30008_0331_Ship_withSpecia lNBH.exe
DO NOT LET CUSTOMIZATION RUN !!! To update RADIO

8. USE Favorite CUSTOM ROM of your choice (follow rules for that rom whether to let run or not costomization) or STOCK ROM ...( if verizon 6.1 DO NOT LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RU N!! or any other STOCK ROM)

Steve (Thanks Jackie!!)
