Let's Get It Straight
Afternoon folks,
I agree with the post above this one. We got sidetracked in the middle of this and now we need to get back on track. So for the sake of all lets start with this post. For starters if you flash this ROM, and LET customizations run, then you will not be able to use apps like TomTom or iGo. These apps use COM port based GPS, and that will not happen with this ROM. You can use Skywing's Valhalla fix, but this will only give you access to Google Maps. If you flashed this ROM, and DID NOT let customizations run you should be able to apply the aGPS fix from XDA and then apps like TomTom or iGo will work. If someone is having different results than the above please respond with exact details on how you got things to operate. For those using custom ROMs I am sure you know what you are doing. Thanks, Steve |

OMG ...I GOT IT working .... OK since i let customizations run on Flashing BELL ROM ...
=D>=D>=D>THANK YOU ALL WHO HELPED AND POSTED ALL THESE THREADS !! SOME ARE STICKYS SO THEY LOOK FAMILIAR =D>=D>=D> I got this from like 4 threads including this one .. and xda ... lol ... thread ..http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=33937 BUT i edited to add things and omit somethings that didnt work ... for me ..USE AT OWN RISK ..!! 1. I first ran ImCokeMan's .40 Vogue Unlocker. from above link 2. I then flashed to the Original OEM 6.0 Sprint ROM. This restored my radio to 2.13 - not the original 1.60 that VZW uses, but it works anyway because this is also a non-GPS radio. This time, DON'T LET THE CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN!!!! 3. I then ran ImCokeMan's .40 Vogue Unlocker again since the official Sprint ROM had locked it back up. 4. I then upgraded using the VZW dumped ROM. To do this put sdcard in reader and format to FAT32 and then takeabove "dumpedrom" and copied it & rename to Voguimg.nbh then put it to the root of sdcard now and insert in phone and put phone in booloader (striped screen) by pressing POWER+CAMERA+SOFTRESET .. your fone should recognize it and follow directions, LET the customizations run. Since it is dumped, this doesn't include a radio. 5. Dial *228 and press 1 to program the phone. THIS BRINGS YOU BACK TO SQUARE 1 .... and on VERIZONS NETWORK !!! After that then 3.Then you need to unlock you’re your phone with ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/ImCoKeMaN/Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31.exe 4.FLASH http://216.139.227.226/alltel/RUU_Vogue_4350_ALLTEL_WWE_3.04.671.2_Radio_4350H_3 .37.10_Alltel_NV2.00_PRL30008_0331_Ship_withSpecia lNBH.exe DO NOT LET CUSTOMIZATION RUN !!! To update RADIO 5. USE Favorite CUSTOM ROM of your choice (follow rules for that rom whether to let run or not costomization) or STOCK ROM ...( if verizon 6.1 DO NOT LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RU N!! or any other STOCK ROM) ************************************************** ********** NOW for GPS capabilities WITHOUT DATA PLAN (aka FREE) ![]() 1. aGPS.RAR http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MRI5IV81 (this will fixyour registries ... its all the tweaks in 1 open with a reg editor 2.Softreset 3. turn your GPS ON: Start>Settings>Phone>Services Tab>Location Settings>Location On 4. GO to Settings> expternal Gps> in Programs tab * COM4 then in Hardware tab glick on port and select NONE Baud 4800. and in ACESS check of box and OK 5 I installed IGO 8 Reset and run Igo ... be near a window it will take like 1-3 minuts to get a lock ... THIS WORKED FOR ME ... USE AT OWN RISK ... but with all my trial and error I was ok ... GOOD LUCK !! ![]() |

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update
Jaxx10-
I am starting with stock WM 6.0. Surely I won't have to do all that you just did do I? Its still of my understanding that I can load the new WM 6.1 rom (which is official now but not officially released) It seems just loading the rom as is then tweaking with other programs would make it gps capable. If not I might just have to settle for the rom as is and wait for the right hack. The rom has gotten some good reports. |

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update
Noticed a bonus with the leaked ROM update. On both the original 6.0 stock ROM that came on the 6900, and on a cooked ROM, I used to get errors every time I flew somewhere (as did several other users). On landing and turning on the radio, I would get a RepLog Error, and several others. This is not happening with the leaked 6.1 ROM. Nice.
Tethering working fine with PDANet. |

So youre ok with GPS that takes long to lock, just as long as you dont need a data plan right? The aGPS fix from XDA, which would bring your SAT locks down to seconds, needs a data plan. Congrats I knew you would figure it out. What I will do is follow your instructions up to the instructions about GPS without a data plan. Maybe I can get my 6900 back to square one. Steve |

Thanks, Steve[/quote] Thanks Steve- I am not contradicying and like you want to get this straight. I have been 'moonlighting' at Howards Forums and I am getting feedback that my step by step as above will work fine for what I need. Tom Tom and WM6.1 here are a cple of quotes for what its worth. Your opinion is welcome. thanks again Your steps are fine. You'll see some postings about unlocking and canceling before customizations, but for what you want, there is no need. Only thing that got me was forgetting to go into the phone settings and turn "location on" under services. Enjoy, it really takes this phone to the next level of usefulness and there really is no reason to NOT do this upgrade. Hello, I did this update a few days ago, and wowee. It made my 6900 so dramatically better, its a delight now. No bugs at all in the upgrade. If on reactivation *2228 option 1 does not work, dial #8899 <send> and someone will answer pretty fast and get you up and running. My only annoyance is that neither HTC nor PCD Phones have this up on their website yet, so VZ Navigator cannot be run. Can be downloaded but not run, as VZ says "your phone is not capable of running VZ Navigator." I didn't have the heart to tell the rep. yes, it does!! Heheh. As to stop customization, I don't know what they're talking about.....the update went without ever asking about this. |
