this ROM is so much better than the Stock one. much more responsive. however i did notice that MS voicecommand did not play nice with it. had to do a hard reset. glad i had SPB backup.

oh and GPS is nice too.

I’ve been lurking on these boards for several months and the information is great. I have done a lot of tweaks like cube mods, wisebar themes, regedits but had not quite worked up the nerve for a ROM flash. Now that this VZW one is available I think I’m ready to give it ago. Most of the howto threads are centered on unlocking, upgrading sprint radios and custom roms all of which I have read in detail. Since most of that doesn’t apply here I’d just like a sanity check before I proceed. I am running the stock VZW ROM and my plan is as follows.

• Back up all contacts, data, install cabs, etc
• Hard reset
• run “RUU_Vogue_VZW_WWE_3.14.605.1_Radio_3.37.77_Ship.e xe” from my PC and let all customizations run
• Soft reset or hard? Not sure here…
• Be prepared to reauth the phone using *228 option 1, reset, *228 option 2
• install “Valhalla Legends GPSServer.cab”
• Do QPST agps fixes if necessary
• Then back to setting up my phone how I like it.

Did I skip anything?

I have added my tweaks to your list. You shouldnt have to hard reset after anything.

Spetrillo, thanks for setting me straight. I had planned the hard reset just to clean out all the garbage on my phone but I guess loading the new ROM will have the same effect? I thought I saw earlier in the thread that you could let the customizations run and still get GPS but I'll take your word for it. Thanks!

edit: If I recall from other threads there will be a count down before the customizations run. Do I soft reset to stop them?

I let the customizations run and now GPS for iGo8 is hosed since iGo uses a COM port. I am working with someone here to test GPSGAte as a vehicle for taking NMEA data and use a virtual COM port to re-direct to iGo8.

So to answer your question if you let the customizations run then you need the Valhalla cab from Skywing to get apps like Google Maps to work again. If you do not let the customizations run then all GPS apps will be able to function without any issues. Its all dependent on what you want and need.

Yes there will be a 3 sec count down before customizations run. Soft reset when you see that msg and youre good to go. If you need anything else drop me a PM and I would be happy to assist.

Looks like I'l be waiting a couple of days to give this a shot as I just got back from the Verizon store to complain about my digitizer pulling slightly away from the screen and I'm getting a new phone shipped. I figured I shoud take advatage of the warranty before doing any flahsing. I also had the cracked case issue so many have seen. Thanks again for the advice!

if this is a verizon phone you don't need the unlocker. my phone upgraded fine and gps is working after install of the vahalla cab (even with the customizations running).

Not sure about this but I think the unlocker allows you to flash custom ROMs.

OK so to get Gps with 6.1 wm ...u this this and it worked ?? After doing all this can i flash rom to OMJ M2d ??
P.s. I want to be able to use IGO8 since I dont have a data plan !!
