You should do exactly as you mention to avoid any issues. Reset when the device asks you to calibrate the screen.

Great Caesers Ghost, Batman! I have google maps working perfectly. Connected in less than 5 sec after loading Valhalla cab. Will try for TomTom next!

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

I have a Sprint 9600 and I’m trying to convert it to Verizon. After unlocking phone and running exe I get "Error 294 Invalid Vender ID. This Update Utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please check you Update Utility”
Please help!

No idea...I would post it in the general Vogue section.

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

I thought I would use this thread to post my pleasure with the leaked update. I love it! To think how many hoops I had to jump through, including having to return my phone after installing another providers rom (data was locked out), just to get GPS to work.

The Valhalla did the trick. It will now find my location on Google maps, and I can search for gas stations, restaurants, etc... within my location.

However, I can't get location to work on Live search. I love live search with its voice search capability. I was hoping it would find my location as well rather than having to input the city I am in all the time.

Anyhow, I was really close to getting the storm since the Touch Pro is pricy. Though I admit the Touch Pro is probably the best smart phone Verizon has, I fell back in love with the Touch.

I just installed the Throttle Launcher 9.5 and found that it is more stable on WM6.1. It works pretty good.

For those who are scared to upgrade, I would tell them this is the way to go if you have Verizon.

Congrats on your upgrade and thanks for the confirmation that Google works. Do you have the Valhalla cab handy? I have the manual install and would like to try the cab.

Here's the Valhalla Legends GPSserver install cab and some sort of GPS test utility written by the same author. I think I remember reading that the uninstall of the GPSserver doesn't work - you have to remove it manually.

Here's the author's web page although it looks like the link to his Vallaha Legends software is down:

COM Port Based Nav Software

Has anyone gotten their device to operate given the following:

1) Flashed a 6900 with this update and allowed the customizations to run
2) Implemented Valhalla GPS cab
3) Implemented Franson GPSGate
4) Setup TomTom or iGo8 to use virtual COM port from GPSGate

I have heard alot of possibilities but nothing quite this specific.

Thanks,
Steve

Ok now the update...I installed the Valhalla cab, and not the individual files, rebooted and started GPSGate. I can confirm that iGo8 works perfectly with SAT locks in about 20 secs. Not too bad and I am such a jerk for not going with the cab initially.
