Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)
I understand that, but I'm not asking for help or even how to do it. I'm just wondering if my plan would work before I go research it further on my own.

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)
If you look through this thread your question is answered.
I would not recommend using a dumb phone for your idea.... I have a friend who is using a verizonized sprint touch pro, but it isn't in the DMD database. He is getting away without a dataplan right now because verizon doesn't know what kind of phone it is.... (He used the old activation loophole that no longer works) Last edited by aarondeep; 06-01-2009 at 07:24 PM. |

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)
What good would that do for your idea? Its still a smartphone, which would still incur the data plan requirement.
Saying it was a XV6800 would be useless since verizon knows all of the ESNs for those devices..... I have no idea what you are trying to do here but its going in the wrong direction and off topic from this thread. |

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)
regardless of when the phone was made, if you activate a PDA phone on verizon where you previously didnt have one they will make u get a data plan....
Grand plans of changing an ESN on a device is derailing this thread. |

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)
Not so, you are still able to activate smartphones and blackberries before the Nov 2008 cutoff without a data plan. I have a few friends who just started a new account with a phone off eBay, activated fine shows up as the correct phone yet no data plan. They have the option of Smartphone/PDA Data. Same with my Blackberry, whenever I switch back I can use BIS, BES or Data Block. I get NO Blackberry services but it's great as a txt/call phone.

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)
Well people are saying that the Touch Pros show up as an unknown phone unless you specifically tell them it's a TP. My idea would be that I just tell them that it's an Alltel or other carrier branded older smartphone and to manually add it to the list so it's registered as an older model (and thus exempt from the data plan). If this works then there's no need for me to ESN swap and thus everything stays legal but still dishonest
