Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)
well its official, Verizon will not allow my sprint device on the network. They now know which are verizon, alltel, and sprint. so the sprint touch pro is up for sale or trade for a verizon branded one.
I downloaded the stock sprint rom found on another thread. Anything else I need to do to get this ready to be activated on Sprint. I tried dialing 611 and *228 to see what it would say and it just says that the activation code could not be verified. do I need to update the MSL back, right now its set to 000000. Thanks, I don't have any experiance with Sprint and how they program their phones.

don't you love when companies are retarded and illogical? From a business standpoint, not allowing the customer to bring their own phone makes absolutely no sense as long as you make it clear that you won't provide support, as you don't have to subsidize a phone you don't sell. Heck, charge me $10 more a month, I don't care. I just want full service with a device that isn't neutered.

Re: Sprint TP on Verizon UPDATE! (NO LONGER WORKING)
My (and my gfs) Sprint TP's were added long before the loophole got closed, and I'll soon be jumping to AT&T for the Touch HD...
However, I'm trying to activate a Sprint TP on VZW for a friend who is a numbskull when it comes to talking to people... would a VZW tech be opposed to adding a couple MEIDs to the database? If they add them does it only make the phones work on MY account? He's not the admin on his account, but I am on mine. I could call and ask a tech to add my MEIDs... but will my friend be able to activate the phone? (I've already done all the other steps to the phone... was really surprised when *228 didn't work!) -thanks

As for switching to ATT for the Touch HD, that just really makes no sense to me honestly, considering that in the tests I have seen, it performs slightly less well than a Diamond, or a Pro, and is significantly more bulky as well. Barely seems worth the tradeoff for the extra 160 pixels in length on the display. Not enough to warrant slaving yourself to ATTs sup-par "3G" network for a couple years, especially with WiMax already in testing, and Metro coverage just around the corner. Wait a month or two, the Diamond 2 is slated to arrive at Sprint next month, and Im sure that Vzn won't be far behind, and its the same res screen as the HD, but in a smaller, lighter, more powerful package. And to proactively ward off the "anti ATT hate" flames, I am speaking from experience as a private consultant myself, as well as having friends all across the country with a mix of all of the big four. ATT has the biggest coverage blanket, but its old and showing its wear. If you want to be as confident as possible that you will be able to at least have voice service even out in the boonies, then ATT is the way to go (barely TBH, with the roaming agreements all the carriers have now) but thier data network is pretty spotty, to put it mildly, and even if you *can* get HSD support at the tower, chances are *very* good that the tower itself is only fed by a T1, which is truthfully not really sufficient for even one 3G connection, let alone an entire cell. Oh, and btw, this is in the City I am talking about, dont want to even *think* about rural/wilderness areas. Just to site a recent example: A programmer friend of mine and I ran tests a few days ago against our two providers, around 7-8pm, and he was getting 180-230 Kbit, and once spiked to *almost* 1Mbit on his iphone3G, whereas I ranged from 1.8-2.6Mbit on my TP, and I had only 1-2 bars signal strength. Both phones reported a 3G connection throughout the entire period. Sorry ATT, but it doesnt matter that your device has a little 3G icon on it, if your cell doesnt even have 3G throughput to it.... Sorry to go on about it, but I just have very little respect for a network so bad, that 70% of the time I can tell that the person I am talking to on the other end is on it, even though I have never even met them before... :P Quote:
A few weeks ago, I was about a day or two from going to Cricket myself if Sprint didnt find a solution to my problem, and while there was actually only one CS rep I had to even point that out to, it sure changed their attitude real quick! |
