On another note Sprint's technical support gladly are sending me a replacement phone with no questions asked. Don't allow them to bully you. I am on my 4th replacement for this issue so it would seem I am doing something, however I am VERY careful with my device. It always is in the case and never has been abused. I do use it a lot, but that shouldn't be a problem. My wife on the other hand beats the crap out of her TP, throws it in her purse, drops it etc. and her original phone still works great.
How are your 4 refurbished units? My TP is brand spankin new and it has this issue. Called up tech support and the sent me a refurb unit, but when I got it, it was absolutely ing... The keyboard was used so much it was actually shiny, the slider was rigid, the stylus was stuck in its port, and the phone was slightly sticky (yes, like honey or something). Oh, and the phone doesn't work (turns off by itself when keyboard is slid open).

I'm thinking of just keeping my phone until it fails cause I've kept it in perfect condition since I got it 3 weeks ago. I seriously thought the refurbs would at least have all plastics replaced including keyboard, but it was only the bezel... :-/

Keeping it until it fails is fine as long as you know it will be inoperable from the unit and you will need to use mymobilier to access the phone from a computer. Of my replacements only one was a refurb and it was perfect. For whatever reason I have always received new in the box. I would be willing to bet yours slipped by the quality control since when they refurb you basically get all new cosmetic parts. The mainly only reuse working internal circuitry. I would say call them and let them know what you received and I bet they will rush you another unit. Just another heads up in my experience Sprint does not count a missing battery as an incomplete return, so go ahead and keep an extra when you mail back your old TP.

Tech support said it was filed via e-ticket. Refurbs don't ship with batteries so I would have to keep my old one anyways. I'd like to get a fully working replacement, but I don't want to risk getting a working refurb that is old and beat up. The one they sent me even has a partially worn out water-damage sticker and broken "screw stickers" that automatically voids all warranty... I wouldn't mind a refurb if they would just replace all parts except the pcb board. Hell, brand new would be great...

FYI, my current new phone that's defective is the 3/21 build date...

The refurb I got was shipped with a battery and a charger (it was a motorola charger though) Tell them the issue and get another on the way right away.

Try returning it to the seller (good luck) or buy another? Be carefull buying phones like this via ebay. The power seller guys often are selling the returnes that didn't pass muster as refurbs and were dumped wholesale by the providers. It's a great way to experience the most common flaws a device has to offer.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

I heard some other posts saying that no matter where you bought it from, you should return it to a Sprint store. What's most likely to happen if I bring mine to the Sprint store?

I know I could just go and try but it's far for me so that's why I ask.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

Just to let everyone know, I sent my phone in to PCD (Utstarcom before). a week ago. They called me yesterday and said the screen needs to be replaced but they don't have them in stock and will get them in a few weeks. I called back and told them that I was told it takes two weeks to get it fixed and I cannot wait indefinitely for them to fix it and I want them to send me a brand new one. The rep told me they don't do that and I need to tall to Sprint. Did anyone encounter this problem before? I was told by Sprint emplotyees at the store that they PCD will send me a new phone if they can't fix it. What am I missing? Thanks
