Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
Ok - so, eventually, my screen has been intermittenly going blank and working again. But now, when it does work, it has a fuzzy, garbled screen like the phone doesn't know if it's vertical or horizontal. In any case, I ordered a used housing with another LCD screen on ebay for $40. Going to try this route, and if it doesn't work. I guess it's time for a new phone. I will report back on Friday or Saturday when I get the new housing.

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
I was able to keep mine working for a couple extra days by laying the phone screen down in the palm of my hand and hitting the bottom of the black plastic on the battery door with the heel of my other hand every time i turned the phone on. The more i did it, the less effective this method was, after about 3 days of that, it is a battle to make the screen come on. Soft resets and hard resets seem to be no more effective than just using the power button.
I recommend changing all the settings in the phone/applications (like S2U2) so the screen never turns off. Battery life is horrible, but at least you have a phone while you wait for your replacement |

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
Final follow up...my problem was definitely the screen. I bought a used one on ebay for $40, popped out the back casing, and put it in the replacement housing, and PRESTO! Fixed! No more garbled screen or blank screen anymore. Much better than paying $250 for a new one on ebay.

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
Thanks for the update gatortone. I just replaced my LCD today with my wife's for testing purposes and it appears to clear it up in my case as well.

The reason i ask is because when i had this problem, i took a can of compressed air and put the straw on the end of the nozzle inside the housing behind the screen. When i blew the air in, the screen would work for a few hours, then i would have to repeat the process. I didnt want to remove the cover and void my sprint total equipment protection. |

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
No I didn't try installing my screen in my wife's TP, but I have disassembled and reassembled mine three times now (plus once with my wife's TP parts) - though I actually didn't replace just the LCD - I used the entire assembly that's connected to the LCD (the lcd, digitizer, and casing - here is the front and back ).
I can't actually figure out how to get the LCD itself out of the casing...the service manual completely skips over actually removing the LCD (as far as I can tell). It's totally plausible that there is a loose connection somewhere, as you've suggested, but I have disconnected and reconnected everything that I can get to. I suppose it's possible that there are one or more additional connections that are obscured from my vision from Any hints? |

is this the service manual you were using? I didnt see anything stand out in here at first glance, but i figure it's worth a post incase you had different documentation |

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
Yes this is the same manual. Thanks though.
I can't see that they list the instructions for removing the LCD. Maybe it's just something really obvious that they didn't think instructions were necessary for... |
