Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
As a follow up, I did figure out how to get the LCD and digitizer out of the casing...it just pushes out of the front of the casing. There are no screws or snaps, just an adhesive. There is quite a bit less adhesive near the bottom of the LCD, so that seems to be the best place to begin applying pressure to remove it.
That said, once the LCD is out, it is possible to see all of the cable connections and I can see that replacing the entire front end doesn't narrow it down much since the LCD is only connected to the touch pad area, which is connected to the flex cable, which connects to the rest of the phone. So the point of failure could possibly be: (1) the LCD, (2) the flex cable, or (3) the touch pad itself. I am going to attempt to replace each of these with my wife's TP parts individually to figure out exactly where the problem is, starting with the touch pad since it's the easiest to remove, then the LCD and finally the flex cable. I'll post back and update once I've done so. |

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
So glad I found this. I thought i screwed the pooch with putting a flip clock and icon cabs on my phone. Now i can blame my Girlfriend for dropping it.BTW I have a fuze so this has to be across the board on all TP platforms..

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
I just finished re-assembling my wife's TP (she wasn't too pleased to learn that I have been voiding her warranty and playing with it's insides...)
I could not, unfortunately, figure out how to remove the digitizer from the LCD, however replacing them together did cure the problem, which tells me that the problem is the LCD since my digitizer works fine. If anyone knows of how to get the LCD off of the digitizer, the info would be helpful. Otherwise I suppose I'll spring for the LCD + digitizer combo on eBay for the $70 it's going for. |

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
has anyone tried a TV out cable? I had my broken one replaced and it never occurred to me until now to try that.
I used an active sync based screen sharing program that worked well for me while my screen was down for the count. |

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
Hi, quick question, what is the minmum disassembling I need to do to take out the LCD screen? The PDF really doesn't say much on this regard.
Also, if anyone know, can I replace Touch Pro's LCD & digitizer with Touch Diamond's LCD & digitizer? Looking to repair a Touch Pro with rainbow screen with a Diamond as parts phone. I did some research, and found pictures of the touch pro unit, and diamond's unit, they look identical judging from the pictures. Quote:

I posted some minimalist instructions at http://www.fixya.com/support/t235776...d_in_htc_touch . From the looks of it, the touch pro lcd and digitizer aren't interchangeable with the touch diamond's - it appears to me that the diamond's digitizer is curved whereas the touch pro's is straight. This is at least the case with the sprint touch pro and the sprint diamond (I've got both sitting on my desk right now). Beyond that, I'm not sure if they are compatible at a functional level. |
This post has been thanked 1 times. |

Re: Touch Pro BLANK SCREEN!!??
I'm also experiencing screen problems, although taking it back isn't an option since I bought it used.
The symptoms started appearing over the weekend. I had bought a generic USB car charger adapter since I had my data cable and plugged it into my car to charge. After about 30 minutes, I unplugged it and noticed the screen wouldn't turn on from standby. I took out the battery and it seemed to work, but after a while, nothing helped. Maybe this is coincidence. I found this thread and did nearly everything everyone suggested. I was able to pop open the case and take a look inside, but didn't completely dismantle it. Aggravated, I about gave up when I decided to put the battery in it with the guts kind of laying about... success. Confused, I put everything back together and tried it again. The 'Touch Pro' logo came on, then faded to black from the bottom up. Symptoms are back. So, I took the screws out and tried again. Success. At this point I believe there's a short somewhere in the casing itself since even one screw in causes the screen to go blank. I'll keep poking around. |
