The Chrome Issue?, D-Pad questions?
I did a search, but I have some other questions, and looking for suggestions.
How do I handle going into a store and addressing the chrome flaking issue? I mean it is not bad, and does not affect functionality. I seem to recall reading this is a known issue, and they just replace them in the stores. Also.. is the D-pad supposed to scroll but just rolling your thump around it? it does not do anything for me unless I actually push the edges for up/down and left right. I have never seen that work like I am thinking it is supposed to. I already have a TP2 on the way and will be here tomorrow for my other line, but with a couple of issues with my TP, and it being almost a year old, if something not right, I would like for it to be right. Thanks.. |

Re: The Chrome Issue?, D-Pad questions?
Can't answer your question about the chrome flaking issue, but regarding the D-Pad scrolling - using the touch sensitive area around the D-Pad to scroll will only work in certain apps. In most apps it just zooms, or changes text size.

Re: The Chrome Issue?, D-Pad questions?
The chrome flaking never was an issue for me until a couple weeks ago, and I got the phone last October when it came out. It started by coming off in tiny little pieces, then it was a "crack". The crack, as it turns out, was actually a crack in the plastic RIGHT next to the screw underneath the keyboard that sits 1mm away from the edge. What a stupid spot for a screw hole. That piece came off my device yesterday in a store. Now I'm pretty pissed, and I don't think they will replace for cosmetic issues. Oh, and I have NEVER once dropped this phone or abused it.
Hell, they wouldn't even replace my Touch when I had a big fat dark spot in the middle of the screen. I had to pay $50 to get a new one. I'm quickly becoming an unhappy Sprint customer due to how they are handling repairs. I called today because my USB port stopped working (of course, one more thing) and they said I need to call Asurion and pay $100 to get a new one.

Re: The Chrome Issue?, D-Pad questions?
Regarding the DPad:
Moving your finger around the circle will let you zoom in on SOME applications (Opera, the new Internet Explorer, messaging, album, etc.) There's a utility called Diamond Config that will actually let you turn on scrolling for some apps. I don't know the list of apps off the top of my head, but I know the contact list is included.

Try the store over the chrome cracking issue, I'm pretty sure I read another thread here where they said it is a known issue and they will replace it for free. |

Re: The Chrome Issue?, D-Pad questions?
That was last year. I doubt they'll replace a year old phone for free. I'm sure they'll blame it on wear and tear.
