Re: How do you like your Touch Pro?

Love it. Would love it better with Android, but still great as it is.

Most people I showed it to thought it was cool, but they would never want it--they said it was way too big... guys included.

Pretty damn sexy though...

Please be sure to start a new thread when you get some solid data on the "chick-magnet" capabilities. HTC doesn't advertise that, nor does Sprint, but it would be a great hidden benefit. I would imagine no2chem and some of the guys over at xda can cab something up for everyone as soon as some hard data comes in. Eventually we can all cook it into our ROMs with BuildOS. NueMagnet sounds good to me.

Re: How do you like your Touch Pro?

Ok,, starting from the beginning,,
started with the apache,
moved to the motorola q,, big mistake,, lol
back to apache,,
then to mogul,,, which was not at all any better in my opinion than the apache,
then to the touch, Which I think,, even minus the wifi,, which I hardly used,, and minus the keyboard which touchpal fixed,, was way way way better than the mogul ever was,,,

Now on to the touch pro...
I have had it for about a week now,,, and I have to say, that I am pleased.
although I do feel like it is something that needs to be handled with extreme care so as not to drop it,, but I treat all my phones that way anyway,,,

No heat issues,
battery is as expected,,, I use email, watch videos, have bluetooth on, and make plenty of calls, so my battery lasts me about half a day, which is what I was used too with the touch, and the mogul, so its not new,,,

to those that complain about their battery,,, just think of it in terms of carrying your laptop with you everywhere you go and having to use it to make all your skype calls... that battery is not going to last 24 hours..
this is not a phone, this is a pda first and a phone second,

I like the design of the charger,, and basically I just carry a small retractable usb cable in my pocket and plug it into my laptop or desktop wherever I go just to keep it charged in case I have to run...

I have had the issue of the lights on the buttons staying on,, but it was probably due to the fact that I was playing with voice command while opening up the keyboard,, a simple soft reset cured it, and it hasnt came back.. again think of your laptop,, you dont call toshiba everytime your laptop locks up and tell them they made a crappy product...

no lock ups,,
bluetooth sounds great,, (jawbone 2)
love voice commander,,, works better than ever...

screen quality (vga) is pimpin,,,,

Camera kind of still sucks,,, need to find a way to increase the shutter speed... due to the really blurry pictures,,, although its still nothing new..

they new clicky style keyboard took a little getting used to,, but is quite nice..

to be honest with you,,, i am so pleased ,, that I am not even going to flash a rom to it at this point,, the stock rom runs awesome,,,

basically if you are new to wm devices,, and this is your first,, give it time, learn how to use it,, and if you still hate it,, go back to a razr or iphone...

if you are a veteran, and still do not like it, then I cant understand why I guess...

just my 10 cents worth

Re: How do you like your Touch Pro?

I love this phone but I will admit I got one out of the first batch from best buy and it had the speaker problem. I exchanged it the new one did not have the speaker problem and now I would say best phone I have ever had.

Re: How do you like your Touch Pro?

Well, I'm about to throw it up against the wall (VZW TouchPro, stock ROM).

Came from a BB 8830. I realize there are trade-offs but I thought that ActiveSync/DirectPush would at least be a reasonable alternative to BES. Plus, I liked/wanted Remote Desktop, LogMeIn, etc. and the better browsing experience.

Every other day Messaging gets "stuck". ActiveSync/DirectPush (hooked to an Exchange Server) will stop working (have it on "As Items Arrive") and my other e-mail accounts (Windows Live, a couple of IMAPs) won't deliver mail. I have the TP set to close programs when I hit the X. There always seems to be at least 50% memory available according to Task Manager. Hey, the world won't come to an end if I don't get my e-mail but my business might. BES wasn't perfect but this every-other-day thingie (and I turn the TP off completely every night) is driving me crazy.

There might be an app I use (Opera?) that's doing it but if I can't figure this out soon I'm going to need to eat the cost of the TP and see if VZW will let me go back to my old BB8830 and plan without an ETF.

Again, I realize there are trade-offs but if you really like your E-Mail then think twice (in my experience, anyway).

Re: How do you like your Touch Pro?

Only had mine for a couple of days now but pretty good so far. Emails come through fast. The keyboard is on par with other HTC devices I have had. Screen is better than the Mogul as is the casing which makes it more attractive. TouchFlo is nice but I can disable if I don't want it on. I ran it with the stock Sprint ROM for a day but I like custom ROMs too much so now I am running Juicy's 4.7. I will probably try out all the other popular ROMs at some point as well but right now I am just getting used to everything.

Only thing I don't like is that every time I plug it in to sync it asks for my Exchange password even though I tell it to save. Also the screen has a little wiggle to it that my Mogul did not have.

Otherwise it's a solid WM phone. Part of my opinion may be colored by the fact that I only had to pay $55 for it as my Mogul was having screen and keyboard issues and Sprint swapped it for a Pro. I may have been less forgiving if I spend $200-400 on it.

Opera that I know of shouldnt have any impact on any other communications your phone is using,,,

I use exchange/activesync on my pro, with 4 seperate email accounts, and have no issues,,, but i am also on (alltel) it may hang every great once in a while, but hey even my laptop hangs every once in a while... nothing that halters my abillity to work though,,,

the memory issue? even though the tp has around 200mb of memory,, you must remember that quite a bit of it is used up by the operating system, and any and all apps services you have running in the background,, such as manilla3d or any today items,, but if you still have anywhere from 80 to 120 mb free then you are doing okay,,, and that is plenty of headroom to do what you would need the phone to do,,,,,

one thing to do is maybe to get away from the verizon rom,,,, as for the fact that verizon is known for multitudes of issues,,
granted if you flash your phone to a custom rom,, it is at your own risk,,,
