Re: Touch Pro Video Cable - Build Your Own
I built mine last night and it works perfectly except that the TP gets confused sometimes and I have to soft reset it to get the cable to work again. I had an extra multifunction adapter left from my Tilt and bought a camcorder cable at RS ($25 which I know is overpriced but I really don't mind) and then I had to buy a new soldering iron for $7. After I glue it back together it will look clean. I brought it into work and hooked it up to the flat screens and everyone was impressed.

Re: Touch Pro Video Cable - Build Your Own
Works great for me. One question though. Is there any danger to connecting a power source to the USB side of the splitter? Basically to be able to charge and use the video out at the same time? I shouldn't think so, but thought best to ask.
It seems there shouldn't be an issue. The ability was there before for charging and audio. Removing pin 4 shouldn't cause any type of issue.

Help! I am wanting to do this the simple way like you mention by cutting the blue wire, but am confused as to the audio adaptor you mention. Are you talking about the rectangular adaptor with 2 usb and 2 round plugs into it? Also what will I "lose" on the adaptor if I clip the blue wire? I also have a cable with 3.5 inch plug on one end and a red and a white plug with tv like ends. Will this work as the av/rgb cable? |

Re: Touch Pro Video Cable - Build Your Own
Yep, the rectangular one will work. And yes, you will lose all functionality that it was originally intended for...no longer will your headphones work, and you will need an additional RCA cable to make it work for TV-Out. You will need one that has video, the one that you pictured is audio only. Also, keep in mind that not all RCA cables will work, although some will work just by switching the color ends out. Also it appears not all solutions are working perfectly for everyone.
I was led to believe a Lyra Video Jukebox RCA cable would work from someone on here, then found it only worked while I held it a certain way and pushing hard into the adapter. Also, some people are claiming problems with using the rectangular adapter that the Pro Ships with...audio hum and the lockups from some odd problem described as the phone getting confused between TV-Out and Stereo Mode. Likely due to improper grounding, but there are many versions of this phone with different carriers and according to wikipedia some may have slight variations. I made a bit of a glue mess trying to get mine back together, as I imagine most people do. So just be very careful with the glue unless you just don't care what it looks like. Some are perfectly happy using electrical tape around it, but I'm using mine in a professional setting and I like things to look nice so I sold my glue mess tv-adapter for $10 lol... Do you think the other adaptor from my Mogul will work, I am hoping to save my Touch Pro adaptor (the adaptor that I am talking about has one extUSB cable out and two usb ports for input)? |

Re: Touch Pro Video Cable - Build Your Own
WOOT! finally I have my video out cable, made it from Mogul Splitter, RCA cables, some soldering paste, tin and hot glue to insulate it. Works pretty well, better than spending $20 on ebay for one.
final product:
