Re: Touch Pro Video Cable - Build Your Own

Hey... all I did was take the audio thing from my touch pro, cut into the short piece of wire going from the plug to the box, found the blue wire (mentioned somewhere on one of these threads *thank you to whoever you were by the way*) and snipped it... got some heat shrink from Radioshack (I work there) and presto... I have video out!!! I also still have the functionality of both headset outputs as well as being able to charge while viewing tv. I did have swap the yellow composite cable for the red, as my cable was also from Radioshack, but I am here to tell you.. it works great! Thanks to all you geeks out there!!! And most of all to my bro, vrdude, for trying it first!!!

you need a camcorder or an ipod cable to connect the 3.5mm in your adapter to the composite inputs of your TV

This is the same input our old CRT televisions used to use. If you connect an old DVD player or xbox with the same plugs, you'll see the same quality. RCA/Composite is an old technology (over 20 years i think) that was intended for TVs before HD came about. Unfortunately the TP only supports this kind of analog output.

I tried cutting open the rubber connector leading to the extusb end and snipping the blue wire. I get the select PAL or NTSC option, but my video out cable from my Nikon digital camera won't put out a picture, just the audio. Is there a chance that i screwed up somewhere? or is this because my cable that i am trying to use is crap and i need an iPod one?

**Edit**
Figured it out, my Nikon video cable will not work, it has the 3.5mm connector, but not the right one. This only has 2 composite leads at the other end, which would work with the camera's output, but only does left and right audio for TP.

Re: Touch Pro Video Cable - Build Your Own

works perfect! nice write up!
I also had a problem with pin 4... I couldn't get a grip on it even with the smallest tweezers or needle nose I had... I finally just figured out like skreemer7 that I could wiggle it back and forth with an exacto knife, it eventually broke out and now works PERFECT!

THANKS
