Why are you so determined to convince everyone they have a POS just because you have had some bad luck on your first what is it know 4 attempts to get a TP that is perfect in your eyes. Maybe you just don't now how to use a PPC and by the way I had a Touch Vogue from Sprint and it had the same corner screen issues that you like to complain so much about. I hated that device because of its build quality and screen issues.

Back to the Touch Pro in the words of a famous game show host Survey Says

Poll Here

Keeping my original phone... am ok with issues, nothing to provoke a return, etc. 78%

Returned original phone(s)... ok with replacement and issues. 16%

Returned phone, looking for other options. 14%
If my post was deleted by another mod, it was by accident/miscommunication. I asked if a previous poll could be deleted. No worries there. However, I find it interesting that you take it to a personal level to DEFEND A PHONE. It's just a phone... and many people have lots of problems with it...

According the the other, more in-depth poll, only SIXTEEN PERCENT of people have a perfect TP. Like I have said--repeatedly--I am bubbling with happiness for you that you love your Pro, but man, just because other people have issues and want to vent/figure out how to fix them/exchange or whatever, doesn't mean you have to keep interjecting.

If I had a "perfect" Touch Pro, like you, I wouldn't even come into this thread anymore.

The first one, had a VERY obvious physical Defect, something noone could say was normal. I was not the only one with this issue, there seemed to be a small percentage of phones with this problem.

The other problems seem to come from a large variance in tolerance range. Volume lower or louder. The build quality defects are very noticeable from one phone to another.

I saw none of the above in my first and Previous HTC phone, the Touch. It was right the first time, with the exception of the screen viewing angles, which all the phones were like that from Sprint for a long time.

So I would not consider what I am seeing as normal or expected. I can accept one phone being louder in volume then the next, but I did not expect to find many phones with chrome or bottom panel fitting differences... Look at all the Instincts or Rants or... Darn near any other phone and I bet the cosmetic problems are few and far between, and their tolerance in speaker quality (as my problem pertains to me) I bet does not deviate as such.

It makes me wonder if the changes that Sprint wanted compared to the GSM version did not leave HTC enough time QA these changes, and Sprint needed the phone sooner then waiting... And we as in many other markets are the first testers to find the problems, and I am hoping for a Revision 3 to show up some day, or I look forward to 12 months from now when the next phone comes to market to replace this one.

I am with ScrapMaker on a few of his points, mainly, previous HTC phones I have owned did not suffer from cosmetic defects and I did not expect them in this phone either. I only accept what I have, as I see little other choice until something better comes out Sprint, until then, this IS the phone I want, even with it's physical defects...

10/15 Flipping Screen, Warped home button (really noticeable).
10/12 Nice phone, but the external speaker volume was lacking. None of the audio hacks worked. I was sad to let it go, because other then that, the phone was flawless for me, but I could not hear my phone ringing at my waist...
10/28 Volume is improved, so far everything else seems to work as well, but I have a gap in the chrome and a slightly warped home key... I am dreading any kind of heat issue...
This is how I feel exactly. While it DID take me a few returns to get a Vogue that had the (perfect) viewing angle--I still have it--the other ones ONLY had a problem with the back cover squeaking, and very slightly, easily fixed. On my other phones, they operated in an "expected" tolerance range, regarding heat/battery life/screen performance/build quality. This just seems, for the most part, to deviate beyond that threshold.

But I've seen people report getting ones that don't have a creaky battery door, and I'd love to have one that doesn't require a whole bunch of painter's tape to stay quiet. The chrome down by the send/end keys isn't tight either, so it creaks as well. Plus my slider is looser than I'd like and the chrome has a subtle crack.

Overall it works OK though. I have had a problem where on a couple of occasions the phone has just shut down on its own and goes through the boot sequence when I try to turn it back on, despite a full battery. That may be a more valid reason to swap. But in terms of the build quality issues, I question whether they've really improved it in more recent builds or if it's just a crapshoot. Mine's 10/18, so there are certainly newer builds out there.
Honesly, swapping could help you, but there's really no gaurantee or anything...

Just because you exchange for a newer build date doesn't exactly guarantee you a better device. In my personal opinion, I don't think you'll really see a big change in these phones until you start getting ones with build dates of February/March of '09 and beyond. So those who are exchanging their phones just to get a better build date... I don't want to say are wasting their time... but it's really not worth the trouble most have to go thru to do it unless it is a MAJOR problem.
I've had better luck in Vegas, my friend.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

I swapped my 10/15 model with the jacked up ear speaker with a 10/29 from Best Buy last night and all is well. The speaker works like it should, the d-pad area is not raised on the left side and the sliding of the keyboard seems more solid. I was ok with my all aspects of my 1st phone except the speaker. That sucked.

my current 11/7 has the raised d-pad and highly-insensitive screen, but the earpiece IS better, and the speaker is wonderful. I need to test out the battery/heat/charging issues today...
