buttons are fine, sound quality in speaker isnt great, it distorts when loud, battery life blows, and heat boils on the radio portion of the phone

Clacking noise due to gap between keyboard and lcd screen.

Sprint is sending me a new device, hopefully it won't have any physical defect.

My build date is 10/26/08. I have really no problems (since I had the Instinct) other then battery life. Seem to be getting better.

Looks like I have the newest now. 11/7/08.

Pile of crap.

-Build quality is unbelievably bad. The buttons barely work. The phone squeaks/creaks, and the two halves of the phone smack together when you use the screen.
-Heats up hotter than hell. I recorded 128F/53C on a 15 minute phone call today. My hand started to get VERY uncomfortable.
-Laggy too. Software is really slow, compared to my original Touch. TF3D is no where near as zippy as the Diamond I have on my desk at home.

The only upside is that the screen is SLIGHTLY more responsive at the edges/corners. I say slightly, because it's still inexcusably-bad.

Sounds like we are screwed. There is absolutely no hope in getting a half-way decent TP, it seems.

Does your Diamond have the same heat issues? I understand many of them get hot, or is it all of them?

I haven't activated it yet, but I can tell you that it didn't even get luke-warm while charing the battery.

I did call *2 and I didn't notice it get warm.

If I end up activating it, I can test with my IR thermometer.

How exactly did you get the temperature reading?

That is an unacceptable temperature! I'm so glad I don't use my phone much for talking...

I pull the battery cover and get the hottest reading in a certain area. Radio: around the camera lense. Battery: on the battery of course.

How accurate are IR thermometers?
