Yeah, I'm really on the fence on swapping. I don't expect it to fix the heat, as that's a design problem of some kind. But I've seen people report getting ones that don't have a creaky battery door, and I'd love to have one that doesn't require a whole bunch of painter's tape to stay quiet. The chrome down by the send/end keys isn't tight either, so it creaks as well. Plus my slider is looser than I'd like and the chrome has a subtle crack.

Overall it works OK though. I have had a problem where on a couple of occasions the phone has just shut down on its own and goes through the boot sequence when I try to turn it back on, despite a full battery. That may be a more valid reason to swap. But in terms of the build quality issues, I question whether they've really improved it in more recent builds or if it's just a crapshoot. Mine's 10/18, so there are certainly newer builds out there.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Really its just the luck of the draw. I've read thru the whole thread and seen people with Pro Dates of 10/13 having no issues whatsoever and others with that date having issues, then seeing Pro Dates of 11/7 with lots of issues and some with none. Just because you exchange for a newer build date doesn't exactly guarantee you a better device. In my personal opinion, I don't think you'll really see a big change in these phones until you start getting ones with build dates of February/March of '09 and beyond. So those who are exchanging their phones just to get a better build date... I don't want to say are wasting their time... but it's really not worth the trouble most have to go thru to do it unless it is a MAJOR problem.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Whoa it appears there's a more recent batch from 11/5 now.

I'd be very interested to know whether or not you have any issues.

My replacement TP has a build date of 11/7 still seems to warm up a bit .. i have not made a long enough call yet to notice if it gets really hot like my previous TP
