Re: Touch Pro Build Date

I swapped out mine today and got a touch pro with a manufacture date of 11/6/08. At first glance immediately noticed that the hinge has been tightened meaning it does not wobble anymore. Also all the keys are evenly lit except for the keys that are closest to the light source.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

11/6 - From a Sprint store on the 18th. They had just received them that day and were kind enough to hold one for me until the end of the day. I have none of the hardware-related problems that seem to have plagued the early TPs. I often have pre-production Sprint smartphones and I must say it's very nice to have one with most of the bugs worked out already!

Although, I do wish that the included screen protector was about .5mm narrower. I can't get it to fit perfectly, and I'm pretty anal about that stuff.

11/07/08: Exchanged again at Best Buy on 11/25/08. Everything Perfect (...finally)- No earpiece buzz or crackling, smooth and fast response, and keyboard working normally. Bought the BB Insurance for $6.99 just to be sure (at least for a couple of months).

Are you sure it was 6.99 for the insurance? They told me any phones > 600 carry a 9.99 insurance... grr

haha what? Did sprint tell you this? That's ridiculous... Here you go:
http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/ue...mentProtection

The Terms and Conditions on that link clearly say :
Total Equipment Protection combines all of the coverage of the Equipment Replacement Program and the Equipment Service and Repair Program in one complete package. For only $7 per month, you'll have the most comprehensive coverage option. Think of it as peace of mind for you.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

My 11/7 TPro is doing good so far, I was able to run the battery down while talking on it non-stop for 3.5 hrs without any heating issues (it got just a weeny bit warm which I didn't notice until I thought about the heating issue).
I still have to run the battery down while it is on the charger and see if it stops charging - my guess is it will do this since every TP seems to have this overheating radio issue. Anyhow, will update soon on this...

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

OH sorry, I got my insurance through BB, not Sprint.

The told me that through sprint I could only have 3 replacements within 12 months, and that they could be refurbs (or new).

For 3 bucks more, I went through bb's insurance because they have unlimited replacements and they will always be new.

Plus I hear it's pretty easy to swap with BB, I mean, just look at this thread. Half of the people here swapped at BB hehe.

A few other pro's to the BB contract vs Sprint EP is that there is NO deductible and using it does not reset your upgrade eligibility date. Also, you can exchange for ANY reason. A friend of mine scratched his phone and they replaced it. Be careful, the 6.99 plan does NOT cover the Touch Pro! It is specifically based on the MSRP cost of the phone. The system does not allow them to sell that contract for the Touch Pro, so they must have overridden it. This could cause you a problem if you ever try to replace your TP, as the 6.99 contract will not let them ring up the TP (you will need a manager to override.)
The only pro to the Sprint contract is that you don't need the device, it covers lost or stolen (BB requires the device) and in the case of the TP, the price ($3 difference).

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Just unboxed a replacement phone with a build date of 11/6. So far main difference is MUCH better action on the keyboard than my last one which had a build date of 10/16. Returned the other one because of Bluetooth issues.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Good to see that I am not the only one with problems on my 10/16 build date.

I am going to replace mine next month through my BB insurance. I just want to wait a little while longer so I don't end up with a TP with a build date of 10/06 or something.
