How many minutes did you talk? How many text messages and push emails did you get? Do you also have a static email setup like Gmail? If so, how often does it check?

Your battery seems to last longer than most TP users. Perhaps the VZ version fares better than the Sprint?

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I just stumbled upon a very annoying problem... When I am nearly out of batteries, I just plug in my phone to charge, while I continue talking on the phone. But the HTC Touch Pro doesn't seem to charge fast enough or doesn't seem to use the outlet power like my older phones so the battery completely drains and the phone shuts off. This happens to my HTC diamond too ... This is extremely annoying... does anyone else have this particular problem?

I'm using a Sprint TP on VZW but using Sprint Rom. See Avatar. I get about 10 to 20 emails a day and sent a hand full of text. I don't have any static email accounts but my XV6800 would be dead or near dead by the same time. I understand I didn't use it alot but i'm still impressed that it was on all day with a little use and still had over half the charge at 8:00 at night. Not trying to say that there is no problem with the battery life but just wanted to share my experience. I'm satisfied with what I have compared to my XV6800.

Unfortunately, this is the BIG PROBLEM that many of have been complaining about--while others deny it's existance.

When the phone is used longer than 30 minutes, it heats up. The charging circuitry is disabled. This is to protect the battery, because the phone thinks the battery is overheating. In reality, it's not hot enough to cause a problem. What is happening, is the radio is overheating, and heating up the whole chassis, and setting off these internal threshold alarms. Also, once the phone heats up, the battery will not only NOT charge, but it will drain quicker too.

In my testing, while on the charger, starting at 100% battery, after 45 minutes, I was at 70% battery, and by an hour-and-a-half, I was down to 40% battery... on the charger... the stock wall charger, that is.

I never had a 6800, but I heard many complaints...

For comparison, I took my Vogue off when I went to work... received about 25 push emails, and about 40 texts. I made 3 different phone calls, for about 5 minutes each, and I browsed the web for about 5 minutes. I still had about 80% when I got home.

I think on CDMA WM devices, they pull so much mA, even in stand-by, that it almost doesn't matter how much you use it--it will be dead in 2 days, almost no matter what.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

Okay, my phone is still going strong more than 48 hours after its last charge.
Currently, I have two bars, but I am suspecting it will fall to 1 bar soon.

I had about:
- 1 hour of talk time (including skype for an international call)
- 1/2 hour of game time (teeter)
- 1 hour of playing with the phone time (taking a few pictures, one 10 seconds video recording, playing music (10 minutes), viewing photos, weather, etc.)
- and about 1/2 hour of web browsing.

I have disabled Bluetooth, GPS (location), Wifi, auto weather update, etc.
The only things I have always on are phone and data.
I also lock my phone after every use and kill all running program.

I will update when my battery finally dies with how much run total I got out of it.

==========================
Okay, something is a bit off.

I just installed nuePower (so I had to Google, browse, download, and install).
My battery is now at 1 bar and 20% (according to nuePower).
NuePower shows a drain of 157 mA (screen dimmed) and 193mA (screen fully on).
This is with all running programs closed.

Those numbers are high.
At those rates, it is virtually impossible to get more than 5 hours of cumulative active usage on this device.

What specific hack are you talking about?

I think you are talking about the slot cycle index (SCI). It is currently at 2 (5.12 seconds), which I think is actually a bit too long. To save battery life I'm assuming you changed it to 3 (10.24 seconds!!), but I'd be afraid of missing too many calls by doing that. I was even thinking of changing it to 1 (2.56 seconds) and hoping to reduce missed calls (without hurting battery life too much).

What are everyone else's experience with changing this value?

nuePower is accurate. This phone uses nearly 200mA doing absolutely nothing, wheras older phones used about 30-50mA.

I have mine set to 2 right now. If you think about it [well, look at a clock instead], 2 or even 3 seconds is not that long... You won't even miss a full ring. Plus, it doesn't mean that your calls will be delayed by that much, because you could get called at the 2.5 second mark, so you'd only be .5 seconds late.

This would explain why many times my WM phones only ring for a few seconds... it depends on what end of that 5-second zone that a call is initiated...

P.S. that sucks. Why don't regular phones suffer from stuff like that? I call my sister's dumbphone and it rings the second I hear the buzz in my earpiece.
