Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I have been watching the posts along this entire thread. I have a Sprint TP and have been mostly satisfied, except for the battery life. I have found that keeping the DATA selection in Comm Manager off helps battery life. However, today I was in my office watching the Inaugural on Sprint TV with my TP plugged in to a wall charger. After about 10 minutes of use, the phone was warm, and just as Obama was taking Oath, the phone turned off. I rebooted the phone while plugged in. Once the phone fully rebooted, according to nuePower, there was 20% battery remaining and the phone was 47 degrees. The charging current was about 431mA. I restarted Sprint TV and the drain was 645mA, greater than the charging current! As I watched, the battery level rapidly dropped and the phone shut down again. Needless to say, I was disappointed that the phone failed. This phone is unable to maintain a charging current that is greater that the current draw, in some circumsances. Can the new radio fix from scottcrosler be applied to the Sprint TP? Has HTC come forward with any resolve or fixes for correcting the inefficient and high current drain?
Thanks

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

Unfortunetly this is a known issue with Sprints Touch Pro and there hasn't really been any solutions besides buy extra batteries. I installed the leaked 1.11 radio and it doesn't make much of a difference in terms of heat or even charging while using data or voice. I personally believe there might be a hardware issue with the Touch Pros because many people have had this issue. All we can do is wait patiently to see if HTC can fix this problem with a rom update.

Petabyte, heat is a major issue with the TP. Personally, mine only gets hot after about 30 mins of constant use/talking, but it's still annoying. Keeping a charger with you is a good idea.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I carry 3 spares ..you know just.in.case
The first battery I ever got I actually cared about - I would charge only when it's close to being dead and recharge it full wile the phone is off. Ever since I got couple spare batteries I stopped caring but I noticed the one I initially cared about gives me the best battery life. Correlation ? Must be one.. take care care of your batteries I also believe Juggalo's C4rbon ROM boosted battery performance.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

This may have been covered somewhere else in the thread, but for those who wont weed through 88 pages of posts some quick info on Li-ion batteries you can google and find out:

Li-Ion batteries should be stored with 40% charge and in a cool area. Heat is the leading killer of Li-Ion batteries. In tests, batteries that are fully charged but stored or used in hi heat conditions will loose their capacity faster. These batteries do not have any memory, therefor after the initial full charge and discharge cycle to "train" the battery gauge you do not have to worry about fully discharging your battery before charging. It is however a good idea to do that every once in awhile to "retrain" your battery gauge so it will accurately tell you the charge level, and to not erradictly charge the battery. The worst thing you can do for you battery is immediately put it through hard use while it is very hot and trying to charge. The remedy? Have a spare battery handy so the one thats dead can cool down. This doesnt just apply to phones, either. The Li-Ion batteries in laptops respond the same way. Its the reason most newer laptops place the battery outside the case and away from other heat sources as much as possible.

If you would like to find out more info google battery maintenance. There is a wealth of info about all different kinds of batteries.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I personally don't have an issue with my battery life. I guess if its my life force and have wifi and bluetooth on all day long for whatever reason and streaming audio and video while working 8 hours a day plus talking away it may suck. I use it for a phone when I'm out and a toy when I'm home and near a charger or USB cable if necessary so really no problems for me.

My treo 700w could go 4 or 5 days between charges with minimal usage, that's not too bad.

Edit: And oh yeah, I'm able to go ~2 days between charges on the TP with minimal usage. Not quite as good, but the battery is only ~2/3 the capacity, and it is a more powerful device.

What about Li-Po(Lithium Polymer) batteries?
