Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

See the biggest problem is that the radio software is fubar'd. Thsoe of us who have data connections open, (like on most PPCs,) and have things like exchange going--our batteries die like crazy on this phone, because of the radio problems.

That's also why calls drain it real quick. I wonder if someone could get HTC for false advertising (with talk-time.)

I doubt my phone would make it through a 2-hour phone call, since it can barely make it through a 3-hour one, while charging

I talked on the phone for a few hours a couple days ago and my battery didn't heat up at all. But then again my battery doesn't heat up while its charging so maybe I got lucky?

I really don't think switching to a custom rom or disabling active sync will prevent your battery from heating up. That sounds like a hardware problem to me

Battery doesn't heat up when you're just talking on it for a couple hours, mine doesn't at least...the problem starts when you connect your phone to the charger and then talk on it...you'll see the temperature shoot up rather quickly (30 mins or so)

Your right Factor..Just with me connecting on my laptop while I am customizing it..Its like my phone was in the oven..

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I find battery to be good and I don't have unnecessary heat issues. Rather than speak in detail about my experience, I did a quick search and here's what some tech review sites had to say about the battery when they tested the Sprint phone. I don't see any surprises. None of them mention abnormal heat problems and if it was as wide of a problem as some suggest, I'd think at least one would have mentioned it and subtracted huge points.

MobileTechReview: Battery life isn't the Touch Pro's strong point. Feature-packed Windows Mobile Pro phones don't generally have very good battery life and the Touch Pro barely makes it through the day with moderate to heavy use. Very heavy users will either need to charge during the day or purchase a second battery. It lasts about 1.5 days with light to moderate use.

Ubergizmo: The battery life is actually pretty good. This phone did last almost two days before requiring a charge. I set it up to receive push-email and I read/reply fairly often. Plus, WIFI was on although I did not browse a whole lot. That basically means that you can forget to charge it once in the evening and get away with it.

CrunchGear: Battery life is passable, but you won’t want to stray too far away from the charger. With frequent use, you’ll need to plug it in every night. You might be able to squeeze two full days of light-to-moderate use out of it, but the battery indicator might make you a little nervous by mid-morning on day two. Thankfully the phone can be recharged with standard mini USB cables, which are pretty easy to find in a pinch.

CNET: The HTC Touch Pro features a 1,340mAh lithium ion battery with a rated talk time of 3.75 hours. In our battery drain tests, the Touch Pro was able to beat the rated talk time slightly with a total of 4.25 hours.

LaptopMag: The Touch Pro is rated for up to 4 hours of talk time, so you’ll want to bring a charger along if you’ll be using the phone as your primary multimedia device. We listened to music, surfed the Web, and made a few phone calls during a 24-hour period before the battery died.

What is the "active sync delete" that you are talking about?

That is true, but None of the reviews that I Read for the sprint diamond said that it had heating issues, and we know that it is a widespread issue for the diamond...

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

i have tried to completely run down my battery then charge overnight ... soon as i unplug... bam 97% .... then a few seconds later .. bam 90% .... then a little navigating around... bam 87% ... then it steadys out.... then the battery rating is normal and decreases accordingly to use.... but from 87% to 100% i am not sure what is going on .... i read from another member that the same thing happened to him on a hard reset device... is this a defective phone ... battery ... do i return for a new one ....?

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

My battery has been amazing after 2 weeks of use. I take the phone off my charger at 8am, I have my work email connected to exchange, gmail connected to imap every 30 minutes, stream music on the way to work, listen to music from sd card on the way back, send/rec couple texts a day, make about four 5 minute phone calls, and the battery is still at around 80% at 6pm.

I know this isn't done in a controlled setting, but its working great for me now. When I first got my touch pro, the battery would drop from 100 to about 60 in 2 hours use, but that was probably because I was playing with the phone so much and also because the battery was new.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I noticed that a lot of people having troublesome battery life are the ones that have the 1% increment driver installed... could that be a reason for even more inaccurate readings or any other problems? I only installed the 10% readout without the nuepower driver and my battery life has been good and readouts have been pretty consistent... I don't have the huge drop offs after only a matter of seconds/minutes... and it takes hours for it to drop to 90% then hours to drop to 80%... and so on... I get a little over a days worth of life with light/moderate use, which is exactly what the tech reviews reported. For those that have the driver and are having problems, i'm wondering if you're still getting your days worth of a charge, even though there's a huge reading drop off at the beginning... an immediate drop in reading can be mentally draining, but if the lower 80% is lasting longer then maybe the full life isn't so bad. If it's only lasting half a day with light/mod use then you should worry.
