Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.

FYI:

Right now I am using my Western Digital passport USB cord. I leave the HTC one that came with the TP home.

FWIW, Mine was manufactured 10/14. but anyway...

That is the real question, how to get HTC/Sprint to do something about this?

I am personally drafting the info in my post into a letter that I am going to send to HTC and Sprint. (like that will do much of anything although I will be emailing it each and every day until this is fixed).

What we really need is someone with some kind of contacts higher in either HTC or Sprint that could get these issues elevated and get some action!

ANYONE OUT THERE FIT THIS DESCRIPTION?????

As a suggestion, I think you should either update your first post or start a new thread about this to get more people to sign a petition or send out emails/letters that are pre-drafted to get this issue resolved. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there with similar issues, they either don't know it yet or just don't realize it yet for whatever reason.

As long as the Mod's don't merge it into this one as they have with every other Battery/power related thread that has been started. But We'll give it a try...

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!

Do y'all have a link to a petition, or another thread where people can sign one? I will put it in the first post. This is the thread they keep consolidating info to.

Like petitions do a whole lot of good. You will have better results by maturely handling the situation and trying to get in contact with someone in a position to influence it. Spamming the same email to Sprint every day isn't going to do much for you when they start blacklisting your emails.

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!

I haven't experienced this while on a call or texting, but I HAVE experienced this while I was first setting up my phone and I was glued to PPC Geeks on my phone, since I didn't have my PC/laptop at the time. That sucker was blazing! But I didn't try to charge it at the time.

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!

I get around the battery draining by setting the "do not charge phone while connected to PC" setting under Power options.

I get on the phone at home or work, plugged into USB port, battery never drops.

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!

I dont know if anyone else has made this call but I will post the information I received. I contacted Sprint customer care today after being turned around twice inside of the Sprint stores where techs have told me on two occasions "I should exchange the phone, but they dont have them" . 30 exchanges told me the phone was indeed on backorder and I would have to pay for the phone up front in order to receive a replacement. Or I would have to call stores daily to see if they had one in stock for the instore exchange. Not cool. I called back and got a really nice rep who first confirmed that they are aware of the overheating issue. She called HTC directly. Spoke with that rep. What he basically stated was that you would have to manually disconnect the data connection and change all your settings to preserve battery at the cost of performance. I asked him why would the phone behave that way, Ive never had to manually turn off data services. He said this is the way the phone was designed. To which I replied why wouldnt the phone be able to perform within its own design. I got the "thats all i can say" response. SOOOOOO take from this what you can kids...both sides are aware of the issue and this is the response they are giving....unfortunately I might have to part ways with the touch pro....not worth the price
