Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.

Whoa, I just used a laser-thermometer, and the battery gets to 92F, but the area right around the LED flash got to 115F!! wow! (I took the cover off to check the temps.)

I wasn't using speakerphone OR bluetooth, and I wasn't charging it either...

wow...

And I don't consider it jumping through hoops to not leave an expensive electronic device (any expensive electronic device) baking in direct sunlight, in an enclosed glove box, or any number of situations that is just common sense to avoid with delicate electronics. Do you leave your laptop wrapped up in a blanket while it's running? Or surf the net in the kitchen with it sitting next to the stove?

Granted, if I couldn't make it through a lengthy call without the unit fully discharging the battery (despite being on a charger) I'd be a little perturbed. But I don't think every user is experiencing that. You hear about the problems because it is the upset people with malfunctioning phones that are the ones posting about it on the internet. Few people post just to say everything is working as intended.
I must say, IF I got a perfect device, I'd start a whole thread, screaming it from the rooftops...

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.

I was just browsing the forum as usual when I came across this thread. I didn't seek it out. But now there I'm here, I'll throw in my experience. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but after reading this thread, it's definitely what happened. I was using TomTom 7 on my Sprint Touch Pro with it plugged into my car charger for about 30 minutes. Got to my destination, parked, turned the car off, used Opera Mini for about 10 minutes, and then I got a battery low warning. I couldn't figure out why -- but now I know.

Hopefully it gets resolved!

/Kevin

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.

I've noticed something weird. I have two aftermarket car chargers that i use with my old Mogul. No problems charging.. now, i tried with the touch pro and for the life me I can't get it to charge. The light on the charger is on so I know power's going through. I plug the Touch Pro in and nothing or.. it would charge for a second or two and turn off and then after a minute charge for a second or two and turn off. If I plug the Touch Pro into any wall charger at home, I see the plug icon instead of the battery icon in the top indicating that it's charging. However, any car charger I have will just show the battery icon or will, like I said, only charge a second or two.

I don't think it was doing this with the Sprint stock rom as I used the GPS to drive 5 hours and was fine. I tried Y4J and JD's rom and both exhibit this problem. I might flash back to the stock to see it is the rom.

Talking Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.

I experienced the same problem. I simply took the phone back to Sprint and they replaced it. The phone got so hot that I thought it would explode and would not charge. This occured on both the house charger and the car charger both which I used with the Mogul and had no problems.

I have yet to experience those problems with the new unit I picked up on Tuesday.

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.

I use my phone alot for tethering and calls and I must admit the TP has issues. I have owned the 6700 and the mogul 6800 and never had an issue. but with the TP surfing makes it hot and tethering drains alot even though its connected. Lets see what happens with this issue.

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.

This problem is very disappointing. I work for sprint and this is going to be a nightmare for us. The Phone launched on the 2nd and we sold out. I wonder how many are having these same issues. If its not fixed I personally will just go back to my mogul. I need to use my phone/Bluetooth all day at work. I have noticed poor battery life and quite a bit of heat. No charging issues tho. On a positive note the phone has functioned flawlessly but I do not like the TF3D so i disable it.
