Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!
Quote:
I did a hard reset to see if that was the case, also disabled all auto updates with the exception of outlook every 30 minutes (where as im used to using push). 25 minutes sprint nav (an probably 10 - 15 of those were with screen off cause it was extended highway driving). light browsing, text, email, and 5 calls all under 5 minutes. and it was dead in 3:10. |

Re: Heat Heat and more Heat
Bear in mind that everyone's definition of "intense" use is different. Some people might *think* that whatever it is that they do puts the phone through its phases, but this may not be the case. Simply using the phone a lot does not mean that the CPU is highly utilized.
It would appear that two factors get the Diamond and Touch Pro hot: 1) Prolonged and consistent high CPU utilization, and 2) Prolonged radio activity - long phone calls, especially via BT. Most applications are bursty on radio and CPU--as much as one may think that they are "really using the phone". When one streams, it's taxing the CPU AND Radio. It is not suprising that this, combined with prolonged use, will cause the guts to get hot. I took a Diamond apart (not yet on the TP), and found that it is designed to direct heat to the back plastic area. Here are pictures: ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Diamond/Users/snovvman/ 1) Notice the heatsink gel attached to the plastic cover. 2) Notice the heat-transfer strips (and copper plate) that distributes the heat between the battery tray and that large heatsink gel. It would appear to me that all of the heat is intended to be drained into that back cover area. |

Re: Heat Heat and more Heat
Also regarding battery life, 10% every hour on standby is horrible. I've been going two days on a charge this week, though with minimum use (some texting, a few phone calls, and a couple short bursts of tethering).

Re: Heat Heat and more Heat
I have a macbook pro that gets so hot I can not sit it on my lap. One time my battery buckled and it had to be replaced. However, mac has never fixed this problem, and I am still using the laptop today. They claim that it is suppose to transfer heat away from the device. It is a nuisance but I have gotten used to it.

Re: Heat Heat and more Heat
What do you have, one of the first gens? I have an early-2008 generation Macbook Pro and it only gets warm, much unlike my friend's firstgen which will run 200 degrees just by surfing the web.

Re: Heat Heat and more Heat
It got slightly warm when I charged it via the wall socket once, but under normal conditions to me its fine. I've been using it as an mp3 player, movie player and surfing the web and its barely warm to me. If your not being over the top then there may be something wrong with your device. My previous Mogul at times would scorch when plugged into the wall, or just out of the blue. It was a nice phone but I'm so glad that I upgraded.

Re: Heat Heat and more Heat
I have the first gen? and it can literally burn your leg.
My diamond gets warm, but my 4 year watches cartoons sometimes when I drive and he has never complained about the heat. Youtube seems to cause the most heat on mine. |
