Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

well i was pretty upset yesterday with my battery life. i had unplugged it from the charger yesterday morning, then i went to school, and only made a couple short phone calls and sent a couple texts. by around 1pm there was about 15% battery life left. thats from 9am til 1pm. so it consumed about 85% in 4 hours.
then today i took my phone of the charger at about 8am and it is not 6pm and there is still about 70% battery life left, and i have used the phone more today. the difference was that i turned off bluetooth and wifi, i guess at school it kept turning on trying to connect to the other smartphones around the campus.
this is my first smartphone, so now that i realized to turn off wifi and bluetooth, the battery seems a lot better to my liking.

My comment. Comparing it to my touch. For what I do on the TP, I would have charged the touch 2x. I'm happy.

(I still want a bigger battery tho. Never have enough juice)

Anyone have the problem with the phone waking up when you go in and out of service?

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I didnt use the phone today for about 5 hours. After that the battery life was about 80% for most of the day. I made a few calls and sent some texts and it dipped to 70%. I made one phone call for 30 mins and it said 20%. About an hour ago it said 70%. I am very confused. Now it's at critical warning. I dropped 60% in 1 hour. Everything is off but BT. Even data connection is off. I'm almost convinced I have a bad unit. Mine came with the battery already installed. Best buy said it was likely an employee checking out the phone. Unfortunately they didn't have any more to give me since I got the last ones with my brother. My speaker sounds very distorted and the audiopara fix doesn't really help much. My brother's battery life is better than mine and he uses his constantly.

Anyone know how to get Nuepower Meter to be the default in System properties? So that when you select the battery icon in the Task tray, it goes to Neupower Battery meter rather than the stock rom one?

Is there a registry entry I can edit to have the battery Task icon point to Nuepower?

Don't feel bad, I had simular experience. The phone uses a TON of juice when you are in a call! Even with push on, from 6am to 1pm... 75%. I make a few calls (one lasts 15 mins) 40%. This was in less than an hour! I was like... WTF!?

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

One of the things that really bothers me about this device is how often it gets too hot, and quits charging... I was on an hour long call with my father tonight, and was at 100% charge when I started - finished the call and had 40% remaining - AND it was plugged in to the wall charger the whole time. This is crappy HTC! Same goes for tethering to my laptop via USB - not enough juice to keep it charged up. WmWiFiRouter? Not a chance - it gets so hot that it stops charging very fast and dies shortly thereafter...

C'mon HTC... I thought this issue would end at the Mogul. At least with the Mogul I would only notice the charger stopping when I was streaming hard with WiFiRouter going... This seems like a big step backwards to me. The device is so wonderful in all other aspects too...

I have included a cabbed version of the battery hacks which basically sets a few registry settings. When I used these on my Mogul, they made a HUGE difference in my battery life.

If you want to do them manually, here they are:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms]
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms]
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms]
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms]
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
will this cab also work on the diamond? just curious since my wife is keeping the diamond and I am getting the touch pro. thanks and let me know.

Oh, that sucks. I never had that problem with my Touch. I could tether all day and it would always charge it up completely.

Is it a safety feature? Seems to be too conservative to me. The Touch Pro doesn't get any warmer than my Touch did. Perhaps someone can find a way to hack it to override the temperature cut off. or at least change the temperature value so it doesn't keep cutting off charging. Hopefully it's not a built in hardware feature.

Edit: I'm charging it now via USB and using EVDO connection. When it's fully operating it draws more power than is charging. I notice that the charging goes down from around 537mA down to around 400mA. When fully connected to data, it uses over 430mA. But when the connection idles it drops to 252mA discharge and raises to 543mA Charge. So it would seem that with basic internet surfing, I would still get a charge over time.
