Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

I will have to get in on this IRC action.

I also thought that the new v4 of maps might have something to do with it. Sometimes my 3g wont actually do anything which is strange but most times it works fine.

I upgraded the google voice and it was a no go, I prolly should of tried it with the built in one before upgrading it might work, maybe I should remove all my android stuff and do a reinstall and see. I am FIENDISH for google voice on my phone since coming from windows mobile there has been no good solution for it. Even though google supports everybody else.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

I am running a Alltel TP and as far as I know there are now APN settings for data and I can't seem to get the data to work at all. There's the E with the two arrows that turn white when trying to connect, but it just hangs there and doesn't do anything. I've tried the Android APN with the Internet as default and nothing happens. Any help? Thanks

Well keeping the data cable connected to the computer and it has booted and 3g seems to be working, dunno if it made a difference but it hasn't rebooted yet. (cross fingers)

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

the battery draining is sick cause i hardly use the winmo anymore...an lets say if i use the blackstone startup.txt would the resolution be different cause i notice when i had first started tinkering with this android thing my screen resolution looked much better (ie. items on android look smaller naturally) an if so would that cause compatibility issue with the apps?

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

I thought the E was for Edge (2G)? I have seen it a couple times on the latest build as well. Once was when I was out in the middle of nowhere and the other time was when I was in a room with a bunch of servers. Seems to have a hard time keeping a 3G connection when I am near all that wiring...CDMA data works for most people once they put in Android/Internet for the name/apn fields, but if your carrier requires a username/password, chances are you will not be able to use that connection. There seems to be a problem with the RIL currently. Until that gets fixed, be glad WiFi works

If you open a terminal and type "su" (hit enter) then type "ifconfig" (both without quotes. This is to see if you are getting an ip from your carrier by checking your network ip settings. In the results the ppp0 entry is for CDMA (if you see tiwlan0 that is wireless, turn off wireless and wait for the 3G or E icon and try again). It will have a part with Rx & Tx. Rx seems to have 3 packets and 54 bytes if you can't connect to anything (strange because if you can't connect, how are you receiving ANY data???). If it is more than that, you 'should' have a connection. And we can go from there.

I have an Alltel Touch Pro and had the same issues until I put '#777' in the 'Username' field. I did this this morning and have downloaded a bunch of free apps from the the Marketplace and finally started my own Gmail account from my phone. Funny thing, when I activated my Gmail account I got an email from Google saying, "Congratulations on your Nexus One!" I wish I did have that phone...

What did you use for the APN or Name? I really appreciate your fast response
