Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
Sorry for the dumb question but how do I create a new APN to get CDMA data to work?

Updating google maps did not help. I am also sure that data works after changing the APN. Also, Sound works through the speaker, but not through the headset. I am very appreciative for all of the hard work that has gone into this project. I swear I would help if I had an inkling of knowledge on Linux/Android programming. Once the project is done to where it is usable as a WinMo replacement there will be donations coming your way. HTC hardware is great, WinMo sucks.

Cellular South Android
Update for Cellular South owners. I formatted my memory card and downloaded the new file set from the first post and so far everything seems to work. This is the first build I could get data to work on. I can place a call, text, and browse the web. Only hangup I have found is if I turn off wifi it locks and reboots into windows.
BTW I am in the Memphis/Olive Branch area Jack

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
I've attempted to port the Sense UI to the TP but Its booting but no radio. I posted it a few pages back, I'm open to see if anyone wants to look at it and let me know what they think. My latest Build is a lot faster but it reboots after about 2 mins and I've not had a lot of time to debug it to find out why. Looks like the radio still didn't work on it but I don't know.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
I have been using android as my primary OS on my Sprint TP with sprint service and it has been great, granted the battery life is AWFUL I am pretty impressed with the android OS, I am actually looking to pickup a used CDMA capable android phone just to mess with after being exposed to android.
Cell tower location services are finicky I had it working but now it stopped again, the wifi worked right out of the box and the data worked after adding the Android and internet apn information. I have been trying to remove google voice so I can reinstall it cause its really breaking my heart when I try to make a call using google voice it just immediately disconnects But otherwise this is pretty bold and amazing to be running a diffrent operating system on my phone, I wonder if we will get to a point where we can actually flash android and replace winmo with it, I saw someone released a rom which allowed you to select which one you wanted to boot but im guessing if you had not made a phone call while connecting that it might not have the mic enabled. |

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)
As far as the cell tower location, I have had it work at times, but it seems random. While sitting in my communications hardware class today I accidentally opened maps without realizing it. When I noticed it about 5 minutes later, it had a location. Which I thought was odd because I only have working wifi, not cdma data. I noticed that the 3G icon was showing so for some strange reason I thought maybe my data connection was working.
I checked the network log and neither had sent/received anything so far. I then thought I would try to hit update and see if my location updated, and it promptly told me to get lost by the battery dying. I am waiting for it to charge back up now, but I wonder if the new release of Maps (4.0 w/ Buzz) updated something for us? It was supposed to fix some other problem with GPS on CDMA devices, which isn't working in Android yet. Wonder if that makes any difference for the dev(s) working on the GPS...might want to look into that. As far as Google Voice, have you tried just getting a new version and running it instead of uninstalling the old one first? I think it uninstalls for you when you run the new one, but I could be wrong. As far as a flashable ROM, yes, we will get there, sooner rather than later, there are some great people working on this, even if they start going off on tangents about cars and html in the IRC channel. Not that there is anything wrong with that, it is entertaining to read |
