Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro -- Now working on Verizon! And with GPS!
you can get a live CD of ubuntu. it's a bootable cd that just runs ubutu without installing it. you can run the partition application format your card pop out the CD and it'll take you right back to windows

Either do the LiveCD option, you can use Wubi which installs Ubuntu like an application within Windows, or you can use the HP storage format tool... You said it didn't work? Are you using an SD card reader, the phone w/usb, or what to read the card on your PC?

That's surprising to me. Your also using the 2.2 july 10 (b2) complete package? Are you using it in main SD directory or using in inside the ANDBOOT directory? Not sure why there would be a difference of mine and yours otherwise that i can think of. I'm not meaning it's overall slow btw, just that sometimes when you click on menu or an app or something, you randomly notice a little lag before it does something. 2.1 doesn't seem to do this at all. If that better explains things i meant.

I still get a little lag in 2.2, but it's significantly better. You let the device "finish" booting so-to-speak? I find in the first 10 minutes or so after booting Android is just a complete dog. After that 10-minute warm-up period it's fantastic. And yes, I am using the 2.2 B2 build from 7/10. Completely fresh build, I always break them into their own folders. It's not called ANDBOOT, it's called 2.2B2 - but that really shouldn't matter! |

Hmm, maybe that's it then. (waiting at least 10 minutes, then observe whatever. It was within a few minutes. Thanks for that, i will mess around again and notice that after some time if it's still doing that. Video's play fine in 2.2, but do they flicker for you in 2.1? That's the thing i like about 2.2, as for 2.1 they flicker for me, no matter which player it seems. Thanks for your feedback, it's helping.

Wow, battery is looking a heckuva lot better. I don't know if it's JIT or what... But I've been running it for 6 hours now. I started with ~80% battery in WinMo, and Android reports 5% currently. Impressive! I made & rec'd a couple of phone calls, did some GTalk & GVoice messaging... Sync has been enabled the entire time and while the battery status meter still seems very wrong, the battery life is definitely improving! I'm *almost* ready to flash... Where's the NAND neopeek! Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro -- Now working on Verizon! And with GPS!
I am new to XDANDROID, just installed it 2 days ago on a Touch Pro. This is extremely impressive! Data, voice call, GPS, bluetooth handsfree, market, etc. Everything works!
Main issue is battery life. If this is improved in 2.2, it will be extremely usable. Oh, camera would be nice, but not a deal breaker. Is it possible to upgrade and keep the configuration, settings, apps, etc. from 2.1? |

Camera IS a deal breaker for me personally to use it as my ONLY os, which will change once it's done, no more WM (if i don't get an EVO by then.LOL.) since there are some wickedly useful apps, but need the camera for part of it. Still love it though. |

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro -- Now working on Verizon! And with GPS!
I installed Xdandroid, played with it and then when I came back to WinMo Bluetooth stopped working. Phone sees bluetooth , pairs with it, but no audio coming through. When I turn off Bluetooth radio phone audio doesn't work anymore and I have to reboot TP to make a call. Just wondering if this problem is related with xdandroid installation or just a coincidence and phone Bluetooth hardware just died. Anyone had similar problem?
