Sprints matches Big reds TP2 price! (May not work)

I ordered the TP2 yesterday after my Touch stopped charging at all. Unfortunately did not see this thread and ended up paying the $ 349.00 after the $ 100 rebate.

I called today and spoke to a CSR who told me that he did not know of any reduction on October 1 but if there is one that my account would be credited accordingly without having me call back and ask for it. (ummm...not holding my breath on this one.)

I'm considering just waiting until October 1 - by then I should have the phone - and then going through the whole return or credit process then.

I was told at my local Sprint Store that on October 1st, the price would be dropped to 199 USD after discounts to match Verizon's price for the phone. I am still in my 30 day return window. I could return the phone and repurchase it, but that would cost me in shipping, and also would be bad business for Sprint as it would be used. Several other people I know have recieved the 150 dollar difference as a account credit.

The credit I recieved before was because my old Touch Pro phoneswere defective and I was on my 5th phone, they gave me a discount since I upgraded early, this is a totally separate issue.

I was told by the store assistant manager they could not do this as they do not sell the phone. I would have to mail it in. I just wanted to avoid returning the phone, I am happy with it, but I would like to take advantage of the price drop.

From what I understand, there has been an email circulated throughout Sprint that informs of the impending price drop. Perhaps I heard wrong.

I apologize for any inconvenience, however we do not show that the phone was sold to you with your upgrade eligibility as you were not eligible for it. The price drop information was only eligible to be applied when the line was eligible for that discounted pricing. So if you were offered the match in this, it has to be noted from the vendor where you were offered this. You would need to go back into that Sprint store and have them note any offer on the account that you were given if we are to be able to credit anything towards the account.

I wasn't offered this in the store, they just informed me that the price was dropping on the 1st, so I wanted to see if I could have the price drop as a credit, it would have the same net effect without me having to return a perfectly good phone, so Sprint would not suffer. I will try again on the 1st if necessary.

I am in the exact boat a you are. I also was not eligible for an upgrade and had to pay full price for the phone.($677) I also tried the same thing. Told her I would return the phone in the 30 day window to get it at the lower price on Oct 1. I even told her I would cancel, pay the termination fee, switch to Verizon and still have paid $300 less. I was shot down several times by managers and the escalation Dept. They also said the price of th Touch Pro 2 will still be $599 full retail after Oct 1st for everybody that doesnt have upgrade eligibility or is a new customer. It is B.S!!

I am eligible after the 1st, but I don't want to renew so that I can leave and come back under SERO or whatever they call it now. Does anyone know what the VZW one costs without contract? I have been looking, but can't find it..


EDIT: Found it! VZW is selling theirs for 489.99 without contract. STILL 110 USD cheaper than Sprint. I'm trying again. I will take 110 and be satisfied.

For those paying full price, you guys should try saying something like you'll return the phone, open a new account, get the TP2 for $199, cancel and pay ETF, and activate phone on your current account. Don't know, might work =P

I have heard that rumor, but nothing official. What happens for our phones, is if the price goes down within 30 days of when you purchased, you can get that new price. But right now there is only a rumor that the price is going down, it has not changed as of yet.

yeah they did tell me also that they didnt price match but because im a premier customer and have been an cust. since 2001 im eligable for a 50 dollar credit and i said unacceptable and then they offered an additional 100 dollar in the next message. but she made it clear they dont price match
