Re: Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

I'm pretty sure at this point that my phone is just slowly dying. I'm calling for a replacement.

Now, everytime I soft reset, the phone loses all it's setting and Windows Mobile thinks it's loading for the first time and wipes everything. This is MightyRom but I don't see anyone else having this issue.

Also, a couple times now, pressing the phone button will do nothing and the phone seems to act like it's just a PDA with no cellular radio. I hope I can even reflash and relock it at this point.

Well I've got a refurb coming on Tuesday. I'll let everybody know if anything's different.

Re: Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

Yesterday it was the worst it's ever been. Couldn't do anything to get it to stay in EV. I finally decided to REFLASH the same 1.88 radio. It seems that when I do this, it'll go back to EV and stay there more reliable than any other option. I've done this before and seemed to work for almost a week. Last night I did it, and then did a quick soft reset and back in EV ever since. It really doesn't make any sense that reflashing the SAME radio would do anything, but who knows, maybe it's loosing something over time in one of the memory chips. Try for yourself... it doesn't do anything to your data or ROM, just the radio ROM.

All you are doing is recycling the radio, which you can do by resetting, turning the phone on and off, going into airplane mode and back, etc. NONE of these "solutions" works permanently.

I know that. What I'm saying is that I kept soft resetting yesterday and other days and when that does work, it ALWAYS seems to go back to EV when I reflash the radio. And even AFTER that, it seems to stay in EV longer than it would using the other methods. Give it a try and maybe you'll see what I mean.

I flashed back to 6.1 for warranty. Of course it's working fine now.

Ugh.

Just to update this in case anyone is subbed and not regularly checking PPC.

We still don't know what the issue is. I had a refurb come in with an August build date, same as my original, didn't even try it. It was in poor condition so I'm sending it back. Some folks with early November build dates are still having the problem so no hardware/software changes have been made by Verizon. Ugh.

Nice avatar, Janko! Hopefully you can change that 1x to a 3G soon.

Re: Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

Posted in another thread about same issue, but I just got a replacement phone from Verizon yesterday and activated it and it goes immediately in 3G and stays there while sitting in my office. With my original phone, I would have to reset it 8 or 9 times before I would get 3G and even then it would have either no bars or 1 bar. This replacement has 3 bars!

Definately something different about this phone. It is supposedly a refurb however, it looks brand new. Now, I have to pay for the HSPL unlocker to flash this phone, since I got it on the first phone free....
