Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
Are you planning on implementing in-game saves for battery games like Dragon Warrior II? I'm in a bit of a pickle. In order to get a special item in Dragon Warrior II, I have to save in game, reset, and reload in game. That's impossible with the current save states.

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
Please describe what you mean by in-game saves. Currently SmartGear allows you to save the "state" of the game which means it restores the game to the exact point you left off. I also save and restore the "RAM" of NES/GBC games when you exit and re-enter.

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
I started to experiment with the old BGP100 and it actually works pretty well for controlling SmartGear on the TP2. There is a slight lag (barely noticeable) that doesn't seem to interfere with most games. I'm going to create a little general purpose app which will simulate keypresses from using the joypad. Maybe I'll even post it to the Windows Mobile Marketplace . I just placed an order for a ZeeMote on ebay, so in about 2 weeks I should have support for that as well. Anyone else using the BGP100 with their TP2?

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
Bitbank, I would be interested to see your project work with the ZeeMote as well. What do you think about the possiblility of pairing a WiiMote to the TP2 for some gaming action? I don't think the WiiMote is the greatest form factor, but they are easy to get, rugged and everyone seems to have one...
I am looking for a controller for SmartGear as well since I just can't do the keyboard thing. I will pickup a BGP100 is you are open to sharing your app. Thanks! |

Not sure how else I can explain it. An in-game save is an in-game save. In Dragon Warrior II, I should be able to save to the Imperial Scrolls of Honor in game, end the quest, reset the game, and load my in-game save from the game itself from its own menu. I can't do this with a save state. I've read over the thread at Modaco and several people have requested the same thing for months, maybe years since the thread is so old. http://www.modaco.com/content-page/1.../#entry1099159 Quote:

It's great to see that you are actively developing SmartGear for the TP2. I was worried the only new emulator we would ever see was the recently updated FPSECE. Do you think you will have a new release ready in the future? |

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
I'm currently working on a new release with a completely new idea. The main window now shows an image of a controller (when not playing a game). The program will accept input from keyboard/buttons, BGP100 and ZeeMote controllers. You will be able to test your control settings by seeing the buttons change on the main window as you press them. I am also integrating support for Bluetooth gamepads (BGP100 and ZeeMote so far). By integrating the support for those controllers directly into SmartGear, the button lag will be reduced. I'm also creating a new mode where SmartGear can act as a "driver" which will generate key presses for other applications to use from the bluetooth controllers.
So far I've got the BGP100 code working and am waiting for my ZeeMote to arrive. The code automatically "finds" your paired bluetooth devices on both Widcomm and Microsoft BT stacks. As soon as I have a stable build, I'll release it for you to try. L.B. |

Wow that is great news! Can't wait to see how it turns out. Thanks for the extended support. I wonder if it works for your emulator if it will also work on others. like Fpsce.

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
I figured it was a good time to give a status update. I've changed the display settings so that it automatically tries to fill the display and has a new checkbox to allow the image to be stretched to cover every pixel. I've added optimized routines for 200% and 300% (at all angles) and for 100%. The performance on large display devices (VGA/WVGA) has increased tremendously.
I've got BGP100 support working pretty well, but it needs to be cleaned up. I received my Zeemote yesterday and am able to communicate with it using the Microsoft BT Winsock API, but I'm not sure how to work with it on devices with the Widcomm stack because it doesn't pair with any recognized services. With the MS BT API, you can just connect a socket to any address and it works, but I'm not sure how to do that with the Widcomm API. If anyone can help me with this issue, I would really appreciate it. It would be very disappointing if I can only manage to get it working on MS BT devices (Touch Pro 2 has Widcomm BT ). I'll try to get it in good enough shape to release a beta by Monday for you guys to try the new features. L.B. |
