Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
smartgear does work excellent for nes....Wish it did Snes but ahh well. Im having a problem with it not loading genesis games. it loads the nes games no problem at all but not sega.. i have a the pack with every game every made and i use it with picodrive using the wvgafix3 and it works buit its not full screen. so it would be nice to be able to use smartgear to have it play games in full screen. Is anyone else not able to load genesis games with smaretgear. and if there is something that i am not doing correctly please let me know. Also if anyone wants smartgear pm me.

Please send me (to my email - bitbank@pobox.com) the Genesis game title you're trying to play and the version of SmartGear that you're running. I'll see if I can track down the problem.

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
Just got my TP2 today. I will be using it as my main phone, so I will be working on the UI and how to get it to play best. Does anybody think the g-sensor would be a good way to play games? Any other ideas?

Sweet. Better support for us. I'm not sure bout the G sensor being of use with emulated games. But maybe...I don't know if this is a good idea but any way to use an external controller via the mini USB port? Or maybe via bluetooth? I think the keyboard is still limiting. I was playing Contra and it was very difficult to dodge all the bullets using the keyboard.

Larry good to hear you have a TP2 now! congrats.
I always thought the g-sensor was a lame, gimmicky way to play a game...but hey if people want it people want it... I'm pretty sure everyone would rather see SNES support before anything else! Thanks for all your hard work. |

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
I played around with using the G-Sensor for controlling games and it's not really viable. You don't the have fine control needed to play most games.
I would like to hear suggestions for a good way to do on-screen controls. I would also like to hear from anyone who's tried the Zeemote bluetooth controller. My expectation for bluetooth controllers is that there will be noticeable lag. I realize many people would like to see SNES support, but it represents many many hours to get working properly. Other systems can be added much more easily. Some people have requested MSX support. I can probably code this in a weekend. I can also add support for coin-op games. I've emulated over 300 coin-op games to date. The best choices would be landscape games so that you can play with the keyboard open. If the Zeemote works well and you get TV out connected, the TP2 might be a good portable gaming console. I've been using the TP2 for about a week now and I have mixed feelings about it. For some things (e.g. surfing the web, playing videos), it is outstanding, but for others (e.g. using the phone dialing features), it is quite frustrating and annoying. It would be perfect if it had a numeric keypad with d-pad and slide out keyboard. My ideal device would be an HTC Vox style device with a 480x800 touchscreen, 3G and fast processor. L.B. |

Re: Smartgear works great on Touch Pro 2! NES! Genesis!
I'm currently working on touchscreen controls and I need all of your feedback (I will also look into BGP100/Zeemote control in a couple of weeks). Here's a screenshot of my current controls (not pretty). They respond well, but are hard to use because of the size. They are also "hard-coded" to sit at the bottom of a 480x800 display and leave enough room for a centered GBC/GG display. Please make suggestions and I'll try my best to implement them. I find it very difficult to play fast paced games with touchscreen controls and they only seem viable for RPGs and slow puzzle games. Thoughts?
