Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
He said that it's identical outside of the cellular radio, which makes sense. If the cellular radio were the same as well, then the GSM models could run on GSM/CDMA as well, which they can't. The only other difference between the GSM and CDMA versions is the lack of a forward facing camera and keyboards, which are different among all TP2s. I'm guessing the front facing camera was left out because it would be useless on a CDMA device for the most part as you can't make a call and transmit data simultaneously like you can on GSM, so it would be pointless to have a video conference capable phone that can't actually utilize the functionality.

Dead, not sure about that but, I guess it's in your mind that it's dead because people are talking about it and were talking about it before I got involved in it. So, it's a big maybe. Let's stay on topic. As there was some file in a CDMA phone that just locks a GSM phone and back and forth, does anyone know what file it is, remove it from a image ? On another side, what if someone took both sets of drivers and dummped it on a phone, what would happen there ? (maybe brick but, might load files needed for the OS but, attempt to load the radio with GSM drivers ? Maybe ?) Someone claimed on XDA that they might have proof that it is not connected inside the phone, waiting on details there, if true, it's all for not anyway. Maybe

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
From what I understand HTC intentionally and very effectively DISABLED the FM radio at the request of the CDMA providers (namely sprint and verizon)
Someone has stated that HTC said they could enable the FM radio if the provider requested as much. SO in theory it should be able to be made to work but HTC did something VERY effectively to prevent it working. I think we need some inside help to get that part working. |

**** IF ***** (for those people who will attempt to flame me) it is SOFTWARE, like most people are saying, why has no one found out why ? How could "hardware" be disabled in software in WIndows Mobile (it's not like Windows) ? I'm not a programmer, this side I don't know. I wish we had someone on the inside over at HTC... But, it's a older phone, yes, sprint still has it but, verizon disco'ed it, so it's getting near to the end of it's shelf life. I don't of the big guys in this area is going to spend time on a older phone, even if there was a chance this could work... |

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers
If you look to the former posts here you find the answer.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=135 http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=249 The initialization calls to the BCM4325 chipset are not made in our TP2 cdma devices at the time of bootup. We would need to make the correct calls to the microcontroller in a new compiled bootloader file. Unfortunately the commands are unkown and not published by Qualcomm. |
