Case studies are a perfect example of how things get twisted around based on perception.
I could have sworn I had a lecture in my Statistics class regarding ethics. Questions can be ordered and worded different to favor a desired response. Like when u hear on tv 7 out of 10 ppl preferred so and so product. you could easily display the product you want favored in a biased mannered that elicits a higher response. Also, tests can be conducted to get the raw number, but they are not all necessarily valid. We had many different examples. so don't tell me data cannot be manipulated. that is just ignorant.

Of course you can word questions and ordered differently to get desired responses! That's why a class like research methods exists! You're not going to get published by good journals, if at all any of them, unless you play it right. So the ignorance lies in someone that says all studies can be manipulated, who obviously has never been published nor conducted an actual study.

Re: Who plans to go HD2?

I said any study can be manipulated....when dealing with advertisements these days, this has to be considered You are the one that brought up journals and such. LOL. I was trying to keep this related to this HD2 and carrier debate.

So I still stand by my statement that any study can be manipulated. I never mentioned anything about being published in journals.

Studies not in journals don't get any respect. No one cares if they are biased because they aren't worth anything unless they are in a journal. If you're saying studies in general are garbage, that's pretty ignorant. That's pretty much saying science is garbage.

But yes, you're right, enough of your ignorance and back to the HD2.

Re: Who plans to go HD2?

I understand your point that studies are not respected if it is not in a journal. Those are for PEERS in the respective industry. :LET ME REPEAT. I am talking about the issue in this topic that I clicked. So this is right up my alley. I was an undergrad science major but I went with an MBA for grad school. Since this was an HD2 discussion that veered off onto the comparison of data speeds with different carriers and technologies, I was simply referring to the fact that studies can be manipulated for advertisements. When a firm wants to place an advertisement, do you think they will do a study and then submit the results to only one journal (since you already know that most journals only allow you to submit your study into one journal with the risk that it may not even be published) and wait for 6 months to a year to get a reply. That's not how it works in business. They need speed to market. For example in ATT's ads, they had to answer Verizon's highly effective ads stating that Verizon has 5x more 3g coverage than ATT. All of their claims are not in a journal.

Anyways, I'm done. YOU are the one that corrected my statement. However, YOU should have qualified your statement and said that studies can't be manipulated if you want them published in a journal. I was keeping my statements on topic to this thread. You were thinking in your own little box. Like I said, I still stand by my original statement. But I also agree with yours. A study that has manipulated numbers will not get published by a respectable journal b/c of flawed methods.
This post has been thanked 1 times.

But if you paid attention to the discussion, my original point is that no one could report any studies because they don't exist (non-partisan). And case studies or a friend's personal experience really doesn't count for proof.

Re: Who plans to go HD2?

I'm digging the fact that the HD2 has a capacitive touch screen and the Snapdragon CPU. You just don't usually see that kind of hardware on a WinMo device. But the big reason I ditched my Omnia for a Touch Pro2 in the first place was because I hated typing on the touchscreen. I might be willing to give up the tilting screen, but the TP2 convinced me that any smartphone I own NEEDS a hardware keyboard.

The size of it doesn't matter. I just need a keyboard. They have laptops with touch screens too, but without a keyboard, forget it. I have to actually feel the keys on my fingers. I can type much faster, and much more accurately with a real keyboard than with a virtual one. and it has little to do with the size. Honestly, the screen size on the HDS is only what- a fraction of an inch bigger than the one on the Touch Pro 2, right? So I think you guys are making way too much out of the size making it somehow work without a keyboard.

There is no way I would give up the keyboard on my Touch Pro 2, and I can't imagine a fraction of an inch bigger screen changing that.
