I'm not too concerned about the HD2. I knew there was no way Sprint was announcing it. I'm totally shocked that sprint didn't announce ANYTHING though. I thought for sure they would at least announce a WM6.5 upgrade for the Touch Pro 2. But all of that aside, I knew there was virtually no chance Sprint was getting the HD2.

Oh well. I was never planning on getting the HD2 anyway. Now if that sucker had a keyboard and tilting screen, I'd be trying to preorder it the second they would let me. But a virtual keyboard won't do it for me.

Still, wow. Sprint hypes up this event, schedules it right after Ballmer's, watches while the entire tech blogosphere speculates about the joint Sprint/Microsoft press event, and then BAM- Ballmer announes a T-Mobile exclusive (that many Sprint customers were hoping for- it's the hottest topic on Sprint's own message boards) at said event and Sprint just brings a tv chef. Unfreakingbelievable. Has there ever been more incompetent leadership at any company than Sprint consistently displays?

Maybe T-Mobile really is about to buy sprint and that is why Sprint went all out to market getting bent over by them? Sprint's actions here just don't make any sense at all...

Re: Who plans to go HD2?

What one has to keep in mind is what "exclusivity" means in the mobile world.

Sprint has exclusivity on the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi
-Verizon Wireless has announced they will be releasing the Palm Pre+ and the Palm Pixi+

Sprint also has exclusivity on the HTC Hero (Sprint)
-yet hot on its heels comes the HTC Eris (Verizon Hero)

Just remember..

They almost one me over too. I saw the Nexus One and strongly considered switching to T-mobile until I checked coverage and got sobered up real quick. I know it's coming to VZW, but T-mob was already twice the price, I don't think I can stomach VZW prices.

After reading the live blog for Sprint's 4G experience I was deeply ashamed of ever standing up for this company. WTF was that? A 4G mifi and 30 minutes of a guy cooking? If they wanted to cook they should have just

Functunality means alot, and alot of it is about timing. Sprint eventually has to get a winmo phone with snapdragon processor, we all know this, but its all about timing. Sprint will eventually get the nexus but who the hell knows when, if someone can be with the nexus half a year earlier before Sprint finally gets it and the network gives the same service, why wait for sprint to drag its feet. As we've seen, tmobile always gets the new phones 1st, this isn't the 1st time and definitely won't be the last.

I understand what you're saying but I'd rather have my 1ghz powered capacitive touch Phone running on an established 4G network rather than have the phone and have the network be its bottle neck for processing net data such as streaming, downloading, uploading etc.

4G is gigabyte speed right there when you need it

T-Mobile has way more 3G than sprint has 4G. And Sprint still doesn't even have a single 4G phone anyway. This event was supposedly going to be Sprint announcing the 1st 4G phone in the USA, in a joint press event with Microsoft. Instead Microsoft announced a T-Mobile exclusive, and Sprint supplied the chef. Unfreakingbelievable.

I fully agree but there are those who have tmobile and don't have network issues. Now for those who don't have network issues by the time Sprint launches a 4g winmo device, all the other carriers will have basically the same speeds. On the front of ppcgeeks news page is says tmobile and att are ready for hspa 7.2. That means no new phones are needed and they will be only a little bit slower then wimax. If tmobile coverage was more expanded it would be an easier choice, but if you have great tmobile service in your area then its a great choice.

The only chance they have to salvage this is to blow us away with an announcement at the LG event tomorrow night. But, I don't want an LG device unfortunately...I'm hooked on HTC.
