Re: Garmin GPS.......

unlock codes are specific to a device ID. And you can have different unlock codes for any specific device ID. If you have a garmin system. You can run mapsource and it will tell you the device code. This device ID is stored in the SW.UNL text file on the card if you are using a card. But the device ID isn't stored as an 8 digit code. Not sure where it is stored if in a stand alone device. I can check tonight when I get home as I have a stand alone device. Also if you have a stand alone device you might have your unlock code already stored on the device. You can use mapsourse to tell you this also. Your problem might be just how you are trying to unlock your map. If you have a standalone device, it is prob stored on the device. And if so, when you unlock, you just tell mapsourse to get the code from the device. I hope this all makes sense.

well - POI's will be already in your maps.. so in otherwords, you don't need to do anything -- when you come across a route that has, say, a Gas station, McDonalds, supermarket, bank, etc.... those 'stores' will appear as small little icons on your route.
the idea being you could then see them, and click them to display what they are (it should bring up the name and phone number)...

problem i had with Garmin, is you had to be zoomed WAY in, for the POI's to show up.. and for some odd reason, i simply could not click the POI icon, while in route, to get anything to display.. maybe user error though, not sure..

you can of course select your destination to BE an actual POI. so if you wanted to drive to a park, or beach, or a dry cleaners, select the applicable POI from the destination menu..

it's really pretty simple just experiment with your zoom levels, until you see some POI's display for you.

Re: Garmin GPS.......

ok, I have a question. I am going to Paris next week. I am putting in my hotel locations and such ahead of time. That has gone well. But, I would like to go ahead and enter the airport location into the "My Locations". It will not search for airports in Paris. If I enter an address it will find it and show me the map, but to just do a search...no good. What am I missing? How do you search for something outside of the US. Yes, I have both map sets on my card.
Thanks;

Re: Garmin GPS.......

Is anyone experiencing low memory issues when trying to launch Garmin Mobile XT? Unless I soft reset just before launching this application, I get a low memory warning that prevents the application from opening. See the attached PDF for a screenshot.

I checked under Memory-Running Programs to make sure no other applications were visibly running (not even ActiveSync). Any suggestions?
