No other way and yes you have to install them all at the same time. There is a post about it here some place in this thread.

You can select which map is the active map from Tools, Manage My Data, Map Sets, Map Source (button in bottom right corner), and checking/unchecking the mapset.

It looks like it will display only one mapset at a time though.

Hopefully that made sense.

Thanks

Choose Use Serial GPS and just make sure the settings match your phones settings, COM4/COM6 ect....

I have found that "GPS Intermediate Driver" Will work and find your GPS, and "Use Serial GPS" works with bolth COM4/COM6 as long as the Garmin settings match your phone settings.
When i click disable I get a message that says "Connection allowed to Garmin GPS device only". I have version 4.10.00wp. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks. Great thread btw.

Welcome Here......(Your first post)

Just make sure you are running the newest Sprint Rom and Garmin will work for you. Most up to date I know of is *("Rom Version 3.35.651.2" "Radio 3.35.04")..

I would imagine if your device is only two weeks old and you got it from the Sprint store it would have the most recent software on it.

Used Garmin Route tracking to get GPS points as I was hiking. Very cool feature. Just had to set software to override backlight to always on.

Couldn't use Topo and City Navigator at the same time though. Had to disable City Navigator to see the Topo maps where I was at, even though the City Navigator had no information.

Here's what I have installed:
Garmin XT 4.20.20
Support Files 4.XXXXX
City Navigator 2009
TOPO US
Topo 24K National Parks West
I get the same problem using Navizon and Holux GPS viewer must be a phone/radio/WM problem.

Re: Garmin GPS.......

SO, I've been having trouble getting maps to work, but I have found an at least temporary solution.

First: This is meant to be used if you have your own maps!!!!! I purchased some Garmin maps about 1.5 years ago for my gps and used one of the 2 unlock codes.

Get Garmin's Mobile XT software. Grab it from the Updates section of Garmin's site. It's listed as Aditional Software. Then Under Garmin Mobile XT The 4.20.30 works for me.
EDIT: Apparently, .30w has a bunch of bugs. I may have seen a few but, .20 is also only available in a cracked form.

At the bottom of the page are help files and maps grab them if you want. The maps are the basic non-detailed ones. We'll be using our own maps.

First, I'm using the City Navigator v8 non-NT (same but compressed) maps. I imagine the MetroGuide (cheaper but less detailed version) would work.

At this time you need a PC as Garmin's Bobcat software for the Mac doesn't yet support loading at the maps the same way. Or I can't get it to work on mine. If you want to test with bobcat YOU WILL NEED TO USE A CARD READER.

I recommend using a card reader anyway as it's faster.

Open the map source app on the PC and select the little yellow polygon thing. Then select all the sections you want. I selected the contiguous 48 states and it came in at a little over a gig for the non compressed maps. The whole North Am clocks in at about 1.3GB. However once sent to the phone the size appears to be a bit more.

Load the card into the phone and fire up Mobile XT. Then click trial. This should at least work for 2 weeks will need to wait and see.

I'd like to use Garmin's unlock process to do it. I'm not sure how it will quite work. I may email customer support (they've been helpful before!) and see how that goes. In the meantime I hope this helped.

Also to the OP, would you mind editing the first post to include the numbers or links of this post and some of the others. It would be really helpful for 'noobs' and would save a lot of time going thought 21+ pages.

Sorry not going to happen and I'll say why.

First: Version 4.20.30 doe's not work. Seems to have some bugs in it...
If it works for you great but your the only one. This has been discussed here many times and always leads to clock problems and other glitches for everybody.
I did have a link in the original post to the 4.20.30 update but after all the problems I and every one had with it I removed it. However I did update it to say people should stick with 4.20.20.

Second: I don't see what your doing. Who wants to "fix" their maps every two weeks, thats just a band aid not a fix.
What problem are you having with maps originally? You should install them then be done with it. Some people have small issues I'm sure yours is a simple fix also.

Third: I/noob's read through 21+ pages so we don't ask questions and make duplicate post that have already been discussed. It boils down to I/we want as much info about our PPC's and everything in them as possible so when/if it breaks we know what to do. That is unless your lazy.( You can change your settings I only see 6 pages not 21.)

But again whats your original problem your having with loading and using your maps?

Re: Garmin GPS.......

for those who don't believe. I am on 4.20.30 and my clock was set fine at 2:28. I loaded garmin, and then closed it out and my clock is not set for 8:00 pm. So yes, you can get 4.20.30 to work as long as you are ok with your clock changing. I don't use the GPS often so I don't really care too much and I am messing with other stuff. some time I will load it up again with the older load. And yes there are 212 posts but I read them all. I guess it just depends on how serious one is about getting the app to work. Almost every question I had I found the answers to within this thread and also found how how I can find the stuff that I can't find in this thread.
