So far mine's been smooth. I haven't tested the Bluetooth yet, though, as I only just recharged the Bluetooth headset I haven't bothered to try to use for months, pairing it for the first time since the new ROM. Hopefully now it will actually consistently see it when I turn it on.

Hi All,
Is Sprint or HTC aware of bluetooth shut-off problems? Did they test this new rom with bluetooth headset? It seems like there is no phone engineer employed by Sprint or HTC.

People have been talking about the phone lock up. It's true! While I wouldn't call it a "lock up", it sure does slow your phone's response time down considerably. In fact, to an almost unusable state:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...2&postcount=57

WARNING: This may cause your phone to completely lock up. Making it so dead, you have to take the battery out and put it back in to use it.

Everyone do this: Go into the Phone app (Settings > Phone > Services), select Roaming and tap the Get Settings button. (Now the other poster has you changing the Roaming setting between Sprint, Automatic and Roaming and then it freezes after hitting OK -> OK) However, in my testing, I hit OK twice between EACH setting change, and then went back to the Roaming settings screen each time. After a few times the phone will lock up or slow to a crawl. It usually only takes 1-3 changes.

I have all three problems:

D-Pad not working when BT on and phone goes to sleep. This is 100% repeatable. I can power on and off to get D-Pad functionality back so only a minor annoyance.

Bluetooth randomly shutting off. It is turning itself off and has to be manually enabled through the comm mgr.

Phone locking up when changing coverage. I live in an area with pretty good coverage but it will drop and switch occasionally. 5 lockups in 2 days so far.

I am on the phone with Sprint now. Tier 1 tech was not aware - waiting on hold for a Tier 2 tech to see what they say.

Edit: Well Tier 2 changed halfway through the conversation. At first she stated that it must be some sort of hardware issue with my phone and I should take it to the store. Upon further explanation to her of how this was VERY unlikely to be a hardware issue and why it was very likely a software issue she advised that they were aware of the issues and Sprint was working on it but that there was not ETA. She suggested I do a hard reset to restore the phone to the "original sprint software" that was on there before the ROM update.....

The new ROM is absolutely unusable for me. 3 DSOD's in 4 hours - with NO apps installed, BT not turned on, haven't even made any calls. A clean install, hard reset, soft reset to avoid SprintWare. About as vanilla a test as you can have - and just unusable for me!

I've already gone back to the 'music store' ROM, and plan to try the Alltel 5 and 6 ROMs this weekend.

Whoever is saying this device is working flawlessly does not understand the problems, or has not tried out some of the things others have suggested on here to try. It's simple folks... EVERYONE has these problems if they upgraded the ROM. That red bar up top shouldn't be showing, and the blue should be almost twice as long. Despite the OP's best efforts, the poll is only as good as the audience it was intended for.

People who are unaware of the issues may be reading the answers differently. Technically the update *did* work - my Bluetooth audio is great now. It merely introduced a new series of problems

I am curious if anyone else has contacted Sprint regarding these issues and what they were advised. I seemed to get 2 answers from the same person :-/

Kinda shocked

I am kinda shocked about the upgrade. yes it fixed my bluetooth issue, but it also fixed an issue I had with the speaker crackling.

of course trying to use voice dialing now won't place a call...
