Updated my phone to the new rom and haven't had a single problem. Not a single freeze since update.

My secret: Don't load your phone full of crap

I don't have anything installed other than HTC touch home and one of the SPB plugin.

Installed the 2.16 ROM yesterday, and so far only encountered one random lockup, then for some reason, whenever my phone went to sleep, text messages and phone calls wouldn't wake my phone up. So I was about to downgrade my ROM when I figured I would hard reset one more time, and I've been problem-free since. I'm not an avid user of BT headsets, but I tried what Cody suggested and my directional pad works fine.

Edit: A few people have mentioned HTC Home maybe the cause of some of the issues and though it is not conclusive, I don't use it, so it might possibly be true.

Besides the Stock 2.16 ROM without the extROM installed (except the voice dial cab) here are the programs I'm using:
Jbed Java (Opera Mini 4 Beta 3 and Gmail java apps)
vTap
Google Maps
Octrotalk
PocketCM
Arcsoft MMS
Sprint TV
X-Button 1.51
Resco File Explorer 2005
TCPMP

Can't say enough good things here
That's why this poll can't be taken seriously. People are seeing the problems, but since they might not care they say it works great.
This ROM is hosed.

Are the people experiencing lockups using HTC home? How about the ones that are not experiencing them?

I had 3 lockups, removed HTC home and none in a day. I think that was it for me.

(Rom 2.16.651.0)(Radio 1.40)

HTC home works for me but...When I did the update yesterday my phone ran like crap-o-la,freezing and just acting the fool.So I went back and put the 1.40 radio back in but kept the rom update and things look good so far no problems.
HTC home plugin
HTC x-Button
IM+
PPC 6800 Hacks
Icontacts
Memmaid 2.0
Opera

Not to mention that some vote no problem right after the "upgrade" (sic) only to find later that they're victims too. Too late to change that vote. I've done many OS upgrades over my years of PDA ownership and I've never seen one that is so totally screwed up! Sprint/HTC should pull the ROM before anyone else wastes their time on it. Anyone still considering flashing 2.16 should hit themselves in the forehead with a ball peen hammer instead.

NOTE TO SPRINT---There's this thing called beta test, Google it, learn about it, practice it!!
