I have to play devil's advocate on this one as a former sprint employee. I now work for t-mobile and cannot begin to tell youhow often I have customers that come to us to switch from sprint just because of the customer service. It has always been bad and always be bad over the phone, instore service is not a problem. They have been promoting this 30 day worry free gaurantee but at the same time added different charges to accounts and due to that breached contract and have had to let every customer that refuses those charges out of their agreement. They first did this at the beginning of the year and anyone who objected to the charge (I believe it was a change in a regulatory fee) would be let out of contract as long as they contacted sprint prior to Jan 31st. After that Sprint decided to add a $5 charge to all accounts that have a spending limit that are not setup on automatic payment. With this, people were able to leave at no penalty until March 31st.

Sprint may turn it around this year but I don't see it happening. Adding these fees and putting out so much money for 4g (which they will end up getting back from the customer through these fees and others) are not going to allow Sprint to head in the right direction. The best move they have made in recent past was firing the CEO (not Dan Hesse) but that move was too late.

Re: HD2 I'm not sold...

The HD2 is the last great WM6.5 phone...it is the LAST phone of it's kind and it has BETTER SPECS THAN THE EVO BESIDES THE CAMERA! Both phones have a 1ghz snapdraggon and 1gb or rom memory, and as somebody already said it has 576mb of ram which is more than the evo's 512. Which I'll admit is not even enough to notice a difference.

The only difference between the Evo and the HD2 is Android vs. Winmo and the camera's.

It's not a matter of which phone is better, it's a matter of whether or not you want to stick with the WinMo we love to hack for one last hurrah before switching to a truly next gen 4 g phone.

And as far as the limitations of the Stock t-mobile rom...there are none, it is by far the best stock WM6.5 build to date. Every single manila mod works no problem and i haven't found a 6.5 mod that doesn't.

In the time Android has been out they have thosands upon thousands of free apps that are useful, entertaining, and usable. Anytime I search for apps for my TP2 (Winmo) I end up getting old pre 6.1 apps that were made years ago....there's just no love for Winmo anymore. Maybe Windows Mobile 7 will kick start that era of apps again, who knows.

Pretty much all I've seen out there for Winmo phones is cab files to improve how horrible the providers have hosed the phones....nothing making the phone more exciting....

The whole syncing thing is nice, and if your a business person and use it....then winmo is the OS for you, but in my regards I am a non business type person that just loves new technology.....and this one has caught my eye.
Apps are NOT the operating system! That's just what Apple has trained simple minds to think Given how many of those are out there, it's a winning strategy for them. But it's still a terrible comparison in reality just like the whole equating an OS's UI to it's core that the noobs at engadget seem to thrive on. But that's their market so they cater to it.

I'm a power user, I need "the whole syncing thing", as you put it. I do more things with my phone than the average user does with their computer. Even Android does the whole syncing thing really well, the only problem is that it only does it well with google. When it syncs Exchange properly, I'll check it out again.

All that said, to each his own. There's something out there for everyone that works.

Re: HD2 I'm not sold...

Windows has plenty of apps available, always has. Granted they aren't as centralized as android or the iphone yet but who really needs access to 50,000 useless apps like a fart machine or "Im t-pain." Win-mo phones are business devices not toys for people who just want whats popular.

Re: HD2 I'm not sold...

thanks for all the opinions and quickly getting back on topic. i agree this is the best stock 6.5 rom i have seen too. and i have heard complaints about android not being recognized for uploads or even downloads on some sites. this is part of the reason i love winmo. most sites think my phone is a computer and i love that. when i try to download or save something it asks me where i want it. i think if i switch to android lack of this ability will be my biggest peeve. although i will probably never be sold on this phone or tmo, i appreciate all of your opinions. also was thinking we will probably see android roms for this phone anyway, like the tp2, so i guess this phone is all about the hardware and giant memory/processor...giant everything really. eat dust ipad. lol

i know what you mean sprintgirl. i got the hd2 because i wanted to see if the snapdragon was all that. it is and then some! whatever platform you choose, be it winmo or android, anything with a snapdragon is going to show you what a cell phone should've been.

Go to the "post your today screens" thread and find my screenshots and I promise you you will change your mind. Once you apply the right mods to Sense it's a breeze and looks 10 times better...so does Winmo itself once you apply the mods. The only reason anybody would even CONSIDER buying a WinMo phone is to mod it...no matter how "stable" the stock rom is. Microsoft has their heads up their asses...HTC does not. So it's like a horrible bad marriage and we're all the red headed step children. I'm DEFINITELY going android for my NEXT phone, but the HD2 will last me another few years.

I really wish I could use the same phone sometimes. I have gone from Vogue, Diamond, Touch Pro, Imagio, Touch Pro2, now HD2 in the span of 16 months.

I think that for that types of device I would want something more capable. I was talking to the rep and said how I was disappointed in the lack of flash and he said that you cant do flash on any mobile phones either, I whipped out my HD2 fired up skyfire and went to Hulu ... he shut up really quickly. If I want a new Slate type device (not sure why I would because I actually love browsing the web on my HD2) I will probably buy the HP Slate when it launches this summer.

Re: HD2 I'm not sold...

The HD2 is an incredible phone. I cancelled my Sprint account yesterday. The Tmobile reps were fantastic to deal with. I purchased two HD2's, one for my wife and one for myself for $200.

I have had the TP and the TP2. My wife had the Diamond. This phone is superior. The speed difference is the biggest change. I was already running the HD2 ROM on my TP2, so the interface is pretty much what I was used to.

I have to second the comment on TMob customer service versus Sprint. Now, I will just wait for the string of WP7 to hit the market and maybe I will upgrade again.
