In the time Android has been out they have thosands upon thousands of free apps that are useful, entertaining, and usable. Anytime I search for apps for my TP2 (Winmo) I end up getting old pre 6.1 apps that were made years ago....there's just no love for Winmo anymore. Maybe Windows Mobile 7 will kick start that era of apps again, who knows.
Pretty much all I've seen out there for Winmo phones is cab files to improve how horrible the providers have hosed the phones....nothing making the phone more exciting....
The whole syncing thing is nice, and if your a business person and use it....then winmo is the OS for you, but in my regards I am a non business type person that just loves new technology.....and this one has caught my eye.

Apps are NOT the operating system! That's just what Apple has trained simple minds to think
Given how many of those are out there, it's a winning strategy for them. But it's still a terrible comparison in reality just like the whole equating an OS's UI to it's core that the noobs at engadget seem to thrive on. But that's their market so they cater to it.
I'm a power user, I need "the whole syncing thing", as you put it. I do more things with my phone than the average user does with their computer. Even Android does the whole syncing thing really well, the only problem is that it only does it well with google. When it syncs Exchange properly, I'll check it out again.
All that said, to each his own. There's something out there for everyone that works.
