Re: [TUTORIALS] EVO Full Root|OTA Root|Nand Backup/Restore|Flashing|for n00b's + vide

NVM I think I fixxed my problem.. I just had to Download the eng-pc36img file from your mirror listed at the slow speed to get the full file. using the one hosted with sdx was only giving me between 140 and 146 mb of the file. huh dunno why but im rooting now with the right file and hope to be running my custom rom in the next hour Thanks Again!!!!

Re: Will rooting erase my current phone settings??

unrevoked3 method won't erase your settings. the full root method will complete wipe your phone.

i'm not entirely sure you can erase apps w/ unrevoked3 method.

is erasing sprint apps that important?

if not, just look for Boo Boo's thread about easy wifi tether. a easy write up link on how to do unrevoked3 ..post #18

Re: Will rooting erase my current phone settings??

1. Yes, but the first time you go to the market click menu then downloads and it will list everything you had download... Easy to re-download.

2. Doesnt get easier than this here watch the video with it.

3. You should flash a custom rom for overall improved performance and better battery life.

Try Fresh rom but before you flash it just back up your current rom (after you root/nand) with rom manager and you can always flash back your backup and have all your apps and settings just the same as they were.

his settings wont get saved;

best bet, do unrevoked3, download titanium backup for rooted phones and backup settings/apps,

then do 'simpleroot' as konfuzion linked to then 'restore' your titainum backup.

plus now you'll have ability to remove apps (via titanium backup), even though i use a paid app called root manager to remove apps.

I think you have your terms a bit confused. The two common Recoveries are amon RA Recovery and ClockwordMod Recovery. They are essentially the same. Personally I prefer amon RA.
Nand is the backup that you do in amon RA Recovery. Clockwork does a backup too, again, essentially the same as amon.
If you want to switch back to amon RA Recovery scroll down to the bottom of ROM Manager and select Flash Alternate Recovery. You can select amon from there.

Curious- if you didnt already flash Clockwork then how did you get it as a recovery image?

So i messed with it and it prompt me that i had to use ClockworkMod do you want to Flash ClockworkMod now? so i did. now when i go in the hboot screen (i think thats what it is called) and go to "RECOVERY" I am in ClockworkMod Recovery V2.5.0.1 and its different from when i originally Rooted with Fast tutorial. I liked it the way it was before, prior doing the clockworkmod. I hope that sums it up for ya. hit me up if u have questions.
@Dude - He's answered you twice already.
Open Rom Manager and scroll to the bottom. Select "Flash Alternate Recovery"
And what's w/ the @link to people's name...
