Also, if you open Rom Manager, you can scroll to the bottom and there is an option to "Flash Alternate Recovery" (RA Recovery v1.7.0.1) I find Rom Manager is easier to backup/restore, but I also like to clear the Dalvik-cache every time I flash and the Rom Manager app does not do that. If you go into the ClockworkMod recovery screen there is an option to clear Dalvik in the Advanced section, but I'm pretty sure the app itself doesn't clear Dalvik when you flash a rom. Even if you check to clear cache/factory reset, I don't think it's referring to the Dalvik cache.

How much easier is it to backup/restore then doing a manual NAND backup? I have been reading that if you backup/restore with rom manager you MUST stick with that because NAND backup is not compatible. I also read that a lot of the times the Roms that it can d/l are outdated. Those 2 things make me wonder if I should just do everything manually with what seems to be the "better" recovery (RA). If I could keep using RA and still use Rom Manager for backup/recovery (but then have to flash roms manually) that would be acceptable too I guess. Thanks so much for your help! |

If you backup using Rom Manager, you need to restore using Rom Manager. If you manually backup using RA Recovery, you need to manually restore using RA Recovery. The option is grayed out because you can't use any Rom Manager features until you 1st select the top option of Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. After that, the options will be available. You can then select to flash RA Recovery and you'll still be able to use Rom Manager. The rooting process did put RA Recovery on there. Rom Manager doesn't see it until you do their recovery then flash back to RA Recovery through Rom Manager. Keep in mind if you use Rom Manager to put RA Recovery on, none of the Rom Manager features will actually work. It requires ClockworkMod recovery to do anything. You won't know how much easier one is VS the other until you try. And roms in Rom Manager are as up-to-date as the rom chef's make it. The rom chefs have a way of updating what rom shows up in your list of available roms. Nothing to do w/ the app itself. The chefs need to update their info. |

root first then flash a ROM with a root–safe version of the OTA software.

Type "su" and hit enter. You should get a Superuser Permission window on your phone to "Allow" or "Deny" then you're good to go. You should then see #. Not sure why that happens after 1.47 |
