Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos

Well i rooted based on your instructions yesterday.

Do i need to just skip to that new added part now? To be fully rooted?

Also alot of people are saying OMJ rom and custom radio.. i flashed omjs rom however is there a seperate radio i need, or is that already cooked in?

Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos

I cant seem to connect to HTC Sync. Ive tried both the version on the SD card and the newest from HTC.com. It keeps telling me it cant find HTC Sync on my PC, when clearly its installed. Any clues?

Yes , you need to continue the process from the newest instructions, download ALL files listed.
OMJ doesn't include the radio. Grab it here:

HTC Sync has been hit or miss for me and others. Sometimes rebooting your PC after a reinstall helps.

Edit: Don't worry about it for the root process if that's your concern, you don't need to actually sync to root, Fast shows that in his videos.
Edit2: As Fast reminded me what is important is that USB Debugging be checked when going through the process. All you need to do is be connected as Charge Only.

The videos are money! Watch it happen before your very eyes
Seriously though both Fast and I have rooted without Sync, actually in his latest video it sync'd during one part but then not on another.
If you get stuck post up what you've done and where you are getting stuck-if you can tell.

Edit:As per Fast-make sure USB Debugging is checked then all you need is to be connected via Charge Only.

Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos

For the life of me I cannot get the NAND unlock fully with this process. when I type i the promt and get to the end of the first line, push enter it gives me an error saying about wrong path, file not on sdcard........ this is what I type
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image
after the word cat there is a space and before and after the greater than sign also.
is that right.

Yes, after each command line the confirmation is that it you don't get an error, it allows you to continue. That's it. My sync doesn't work but I do think it will disconnect you.

Type

reboot recovery

at the prompt. That is the command.
