Re: newbie looking to learn...(root issues)
You are a saint, lol... idk why I diddent think of that... anyways, should I try the easier option or just keep on with the way I was goin? By this point I just want root and don't really care how I get it, lol.. it says if I have previously tried to root I have to restore from a RUU, what is that?

Re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe
Ok first post I have not found this yet so here goes. Due to an outage earlier this year where google wasnt working and market kept crashing I thought it was new rom so i nand restored. Nothing changed so I ran the ruu that was listed as safe when I rooted using toast method. It would not finish so I gave it a rest. Now today for whatever reason I payed attention to the hboot and im on .79 with some zeros and S-ON. wtf. So I tried reflashin the eng-PCIMG and mtg-eng. still s-on. So I tried again refashing the recovery as well .No luck so I searched all over and nothing helps .Also on omj 4.2 and have no problems flashing roms so how do I get s-off now. Thanx

Why do I feel like an idiot trying to hack my new EVO 4G?
The Godd is back on the PPC Geek scene with a brand new EVO 4G in hand. I must say I have read just about every thread here and over at XDA, and can't even get through the basic task of rooting this thing. It appears to be extremely difficult to do hacks on Android Platform for the most miner alteration with advance tech knowledge. Can someone point to the corner label EVO for dummies? Geesh!

No fun after win mo lol.
I would run update first. It will update your hboot to 2.10 (menu/settings/system update) Double check your hboot. install unrevoked driver manually (make sure its installed ) Back up RSA keys (I skipped this step,no issues with 4G ) Follow zikronix thread @ xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045 One thing I understood-hboot 2.02 is f..dup.Run OTA update to be on the safe side
