Well I just heard on xda bit I haven't been able to confirm yet but apparently it might use ur minutes even say if ur on.free nights and weekends and so on I'm will see forsure what dude was saying then call sprint to iron it out. But I just got one last week it's fucking great but just don't use as a router bc it will dumb down ur connection so u wanna hook up off of a router instead of a direct hook to modem yeah I learned the hard way had to go out and buy a wireless router

Re: Did you get an Airave?

chances are, if it won't link you aren't getting GPS signal. It took mine about 2 hours to connect.

Re: Did you get an Airave?

I had to hold down the reset button for 20 seconds while it was on, then power cycle it before it grabbed a signal. You might want to try that if it's still not working...

Re: Did you get an Airave?

they sent me 2, what the heck do I do with the second one?

I had to open the boxes to find the right one with the MAC ID attached to my Airave line. So it isn't as simple as refusing and returning to sender.

Re: Did you get an Airave?

I not only got mine for completely free but expedited shipping!

Can't seem to get it to work.

questions:

1) Do I HAVE to hook up that external GPS thingy to get it to work? I'd rather not have another wire running around if not needed.

2) People mention the zip code online. I don't even see the device listed on my account! Where do I look?

3) I've seen people say you have to "activate" it. How? Does it do this automatically?

Thanks

Brad

The device needs to lock onto a GPS signal. If it isn't doing it on its own, then the internal antennae needs to be connected so you can place that near/closer to a window. I had to do this with mine.

The device should be listed on your account as another line, with it's own phone number. If it's not, I'd ask about it. It should show you a MAC address which needs to match the MAC address shown on the device itself.

The way you received yours, like mine, it should be activated already. I had to reset mine before it ever worked properly, you might want to try that.

To Reset:
While the power is on, press and hold the reset button (with a toothpick or some such) the reset hole can be found near the where the power cord plugs in on the device.

After 20+ seconds, power cycle the device and see if you get any different results.

Re: Did you get an Airave?

wow. that was a lot harder than it needed to be but it worked. I went on the chat and they approved it after talking with a sup but said they cannot do it and I had to call telesales. telesales was like dealing with a car salesman and after arguing with him for 20 minutes he escalated the call to another dept and the guy gladly sent me the airave for free with a $0/month charge. wish I would of done this a few years ago. thank to the OP for bringing it up!
